Shivam Kalra (thatwriterfromdelhi) | 41 comments Currently reading Burnt Shadows by Kamila Shamsie . The book has hit me emotionally on so many levels. It has been 10 days I've read only 200 pages. I can't, even if I want to, read more than 20 pages a day. It talks about incidents that I've always been horrified of whenever I thought about them, it brings me to tear. The title of the book is carved out, whenever something emotional part comes up, my fingers automatically trace those carvings. It has become a highly personal book

Tanya | 6 comments I seem a little late to comment but then I was engrossed in books (texts included).
This February I started reading Divergent trilogy because one of my friends recommended so. My thesis :
1. SPOILER ALERT.
2. I liked the first one a lot but it seemed like Hunger Games so I was a bit disappointed.
3.Insurgent was such a dull one.
4. You don't read a book to see people die especially the important ones but then it would have been too flimsy.
Then I read 'Four' by the same author Veronica Roth.
It was really bad. Maybe not 'too' bad but more than bad.
Then I read 'Fault In Our Stars'. I hate romance but I loved this one. It strikes you with reality and then it is beautiful written, how do I say delicately, 'nicely phrased' it is. And one more thing my 'okay' is no more 'Okay'.
I read 'The Interpreter of Maladies' by Jhumpa Lahiri.
I need to say something else?

Currently reading The Rithmatist (The Rithmatist, #1) by Brandon Sanderson . It's basically the new Harry Potter, but not quite as good.

It's kind of short, but that is only part of the reason I'm done so soon. The other part is that it's friggin' AWESOME! Highly recommended to Harry Potter fans and people who don't find math unbearable.

Most of Brandon Sanderson's books are awesome. Just love the way he writes. This didn't appeal to me as much as the Stormlight Archive or Mistborn, but it was decent nonetheless

I really want to try The Stormlight Archive, and depending on how much I like it, Mistborn. The basic complaint I've seen online about The Rithmatist is that it has too many teen fiction cliches, which isn't a problem for me when the characters are so much fun to get to know and the conflicts are so relatable yet somewhat new.

Rithmatist was written for a younger audience so the cliches sort of made sense. I'd suggest read the Final Empire (Mistborn #1) before any of his other works, If you're hooked after that, then it's all good. Stormlight is very heavy stuff to start off with. I'm not saying it's not a great way to start, it's just that Mistborn brought him to the forefront and you can maybe appreciate Stormlight more after reading that

Thanks. I guess I'll read whichever I get my hands on first (that's the cue for any BYOB member who has it to get it :p). Truth is, I've been reading mostly light stuff recently, so now I want to get into some heavy reading.

Archi Seth | 5 comments Currently reading Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights . It is a light read compared to Midnight's Children and other Rushdie novels , profound and rock starish at the same time .... Pick it up and feel good about improving your mind Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights by Salman Rushdie .

message 89: by Shivam (new)

Shivam Kalra (thatwriterfromdelhi) | 41 comments Just finished The Circle by Dave Eggers , suggested by Tanya in dystopian meet. It's such a creepy book. The internet has high chances of taking over the world and rule out democracy again. A must read for a little sneak peak into future technology and what it might lead at this pace that we're relying on it.

Currently reading A Memory Of Demons by David Ambrose , suspense level is way too high, almost a horror.

Of course you can use frabjous. In fact, it is encouraged. The chess game in Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There is also a lot of fun to imagine.

Incidentally if you have some lengthier thoughts that you'd like to post, there is an Alice thread in the discussion board.
