Story (storyheart) This morning I heard about a Margaret Atwood documentary on youtube:

Margaret Atwood: Once in August (1984)

What shapes Margaret Atwood's fiction and what motivates her characters? One of Canada's most distinguished poets and novelists, Atwood is also one of this country's most elusive literary figures. This revealing and fascinating documentary casts light on Atwood's irreverence, sense of humour, and unmatched wits.

This is so beautiful! I only had time to watch the first five minutes so far, but the water, and the trees, and the island are all right out of Surfacing. (Funny how so much of her seems to come back to that.)

It also surprises me to learn that she's considered elusive. She's written so much - and I feel I've learned so much about her - but clearly there's a whole lot more.

I'm hoping I'll be able to sit down and watch the whole thing tonight - Thanks so much for finding and posting this!

And one of the first thoughts I had watching this was that she seems shy - which just boggles my mind!
