Through six turbulent months of 1934, 17-year-old Cassandra Mortmain keeps a journal, filling three notebooks with sharply funny yet poignant entries about her home, a ruined Suffolk castle, and her eccentric and penniless family. By the time the last diary shuts, there have been great changes in the Mortmain household, not the least of which is that Cassandra is deeply, hopelessly, in love.

This is one of my favorite books. I love it!!

Okay... I'm going to start reading this one again soon! I love this book.

What did you think of the movie adaptation? I was sort of meh about it. I didn't like the relationship between the sisters as much in the film.

Caitlin (soxfan05) | 4 comments I just finished this - I loved it, but the end frustrated me. It felt like a realistic ending, but I was hoping for more of a glimmer of something else to come.
