I put it on all my lists, and never get to it. I don't know why. Every time I re-read the synopsis, I REALLY want to read it!☺

Cherie (crobins0) | 20536 comments I don't "get" Vonnegut. Is there going to be a point?

Am I really supposed to think Galapagos is funny? It just feels like a big dumb story and I feel stupid for reading it and not liking it.

Is the satire just the fact that I am still reading it? I made it to page 75, chapter 17 tonight.

A million years ago, humans had big brains that got them into lots of trouble. A million years in the future of 1986, humans are furry and live in the ocean? Do I care about the rest? Did you?

lol! I'm sticking with you girlfriend!

Kurt Vonnegut and I have never gotten along.

I keep trying to read him because "I'm supposed" to like him as everyone else seems to.

I also don't get him and somehow feel it is probably because I am the actual person that he is satirizing.

I am giving him up. He doesn't like me....Well I don't like him. SO THERE! ;oP

The Potato Factory was difficult to rate. It is a long book and I'd found myself wondering at times "When will we ever get to Australia?". BUT I have to hand it to Bryce to put
Ikey Solomon through every plot twist (not) imaginable, along with Mary and Hannah and the rest if the cast of unsavory characters. I had to see how they survived every episode of their miserable lives!

Two books to go for "All Sites"!

Thank you. I feel as though I have been in a six month Toppler! Looking forward a more leisurely pace soon.

I've noticed that you are going for it all also. With about 3 1/2 months left, you can do it !

message 24: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 20536 comments Yes, I'm pretty sure I will make it. I got an unexpected surprise with a book for my list yesterday. I had planned to read Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone for the diamond task. It is long!
I just finished listening to an audio book that I can swap it with and be one book closer. I was looking for a short audio book to listen to and discovered that Amy had bought the last two in the Book of Ember series on our Audible account. It happened to be called The Diamond of Darkhold. She said her 7yo was really interested in listening to them when they are driving.

message 25: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 20536 comments Maybe not. It has to be about a real diamond. The diamond of Darkhold looks like a blue diamond, but it is not actually a real stone. It was a good story anyway! Wilkie Collins is back on my list. :)

I am still reading books for mine too. I am tracking them on my spread sheet, but not on my old link. I applied 14 or 15 books this year and will continue in 2018. I know that there are some I may never get to, but who knows? Anything is possible.
