Rachel | 2835 comments Please post all questions, updates & comments about the winter 2015/2016 challenge in this thread :)

The Winter 2015/2016 Reading Challenge will start December 3rd and end February 29th, 2016.

Rules of the challenge:

Read 3 books (or more)
Complete 3 tasks (or more)
Re-reads are ok
Books can be any genre

This winter, complete 3 (or more) of the following tasks:

1. Winter officially begins on December 21st. So this winter:

READ A BOOK THAT DEPICTS A WINTER SCENE ON ITS COVER

2. Tis the season, so goodbye sun and hello long, dark nights. So this winter:

READ A BOOK WITH THE WORD DARK/DARKER/DARKEST OR DARKNESS IN THE TITLE

3. January is National Stalking Awareness Month. So this winter:

READ A BOOK THAT DEALS WITH STALKING

4. January 8th is Elvis Presley's birthday. So this winter:

READ A BOOK THAT FEATURES A CHARACTER NAMED ELVIS

OR

READ A BOOK THAT TAKES PLACE (AT LEAST IN PART) IN TENNESSEE

5. "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, it's amore." It's Valentine's Day on February 14th. So this winter:

READ A BOOK WITH THE LETTERS A-M-O-R-E IN THE TITLE (THESE LETTERS DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN ORDER)

6. It's also Singles Appreciation Day on February 14th. So this winter:

READ A BOOK IN WHICH THE MAIN CHARACTER IS SINGLE

7. Random Task-This task counts towards the challenge but is not inspired by the season. So this winter:

READ A DARE 2 DREAM FRIEND'S FAVORITE BOOK

This is how it works:
Although the challenge is open to everyone, the regular d2d reading challenge crew is Christine, Danell, Dustin, Jenn, Josh & Myself. So go to one of those pages-look for the shelf marked favorites and read a book from that shelf.

Please note Dustin has an amazing shelf rather than a favorite shelf but it's the same thing so it's all good :)

Also, Danell's favorites are not on her bookshelf page but can be found on her bio page so again all good :)

Hope this doesn't sound too confusing!

HAVE A HAPPY WINTER, EVERYONE! :D

I have found the book I want to read for task #5 : The letters in the title can spell A-M-O-R-E :-)

Learning to Swim (Troy Chance, #1) by Sara J. Henry

If I like that book, then I plan to read book two to meet task #1 with a winter scene on the cover:

A Cold and Lonely Place (Troy Chance, #2) by Sara J. Henry

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 363 comments I has an UPDATE!!!!! WOOT!!! WOOTTT!!! You Are Destined to be Together Forever by Dean Koontz features a character by the name of Elvis... which is a no duh to the Koontz fans! Sadly it was also the final story I had left to read in the Odd Thomas series. It depresses me to say that.

4) Odd Thomas You Are Destined To Be Together Forever by Dean Koontz

I am still reading Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist.

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 363 comments I completed a second challenge... Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist has the two main characters single... I guess they become a couple by the end of the book but they start out single and for most of the book are single... until they decide they like each other... Its a crazy book. I highly recommend it. The girl I am dating let me borrow with it being her favorite book.

4) Odd Thomas You Are Destined To Be Together Forever by Dean Koontz
6) Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn

Now I am in the process of deciding what to read next. Other than the DMV's driving book... Trying for my license. I am thinking about The Green Mile. It fits the read a friend's favorite book... It is on Dustin's awesome list! lol Well the separate parts are. lol

Good luck with your license! :D

message 28: by Christine (new)

Christine | 729 comments The Green Mile should also be on my list Its one of my fav Stephen King novels. I read it as each one came out. It was interesting reading it in serial form.

Rachel | 2835 comments finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the random task. I believe this book is listed as a favorite by both Christine and Jenn-going to add it to my favorite shelf as well. I listened to this on audio and the narrator, Jim Dale was amazing.

Yes! Yes! Much Good! I use a lot of audiobooks and enjoyed Jim Dale as a narrator. One of these days I should re-read the Harry Potter Series :-)

Christine | 729 comments When I started The Heart Goes Last, I did not think I would be able to use it for this challenge, let alone for a character named Elvis. This book included a Wedding Elvis, a Singing Elvis, a Retirement Home Elvis, a Chauffeur Elvis, a Bodyguard Elvis and an Escort Elvis which is not to be confused with the Sex-bot Elvis.

I really need to read a book by Margaret Atwood sometime soon.
