RORY McNERNEY Like I have said in previous comments, the dialogue has a huge impact on the story. She is basically in the hospital, battling for her life, but thinking about everything that has happened in her time. She is telling us what has happened to her, how this happened, why she she should "leave" (give up on life and die), or why she should "stay" (wake up). Through the dialogue, we have been easily transported into her situation, and her life. We now have learned to love her, and her family. This is how the dialogue for "If I Stay" by Gayle Forman is an important element of the book.

Lexie Meltzer This is just another great reason why dialogue is so important in this book!

Lexie Meltzer I feel like the concept of her having to choose in general is dialogue itself.
