I tried to leave you a blog comment, too, but it was being finicky. Loved your review! I agree about wanting more at the end. :)

Just one more to finish off this level, Loren! Getting there.
Oh yes, I look forward to that one, too.

Yahoo, Loren!!!!
Moving on up to Anne Elliot now.
Oh and I loved that one, too. Jack needs to write more Austenesque. :)

Just dipping my toe in here and hoping I can get the books read! I'm starting off with An Unexpected Lady by Leila M. Silver and Northanger Abbey by the lady herself.
Then you are off to a good start, indeed Kelly. Northanger Abbey is such a great comedy and delight. :)
Hello! It's been a long time since I wrote here, but I read all your posts. Always a pleasure ;)
During this period, beyond "Lady Susan", that I don't count because it was a re-read, I read:
Captain Wentworth's Persuasion: Jane Austen's Classic Retold Through His Eyes
Captain Wentworth's persuasion, by Regina Jeffers. It is the story of Persuasion told following Captain Wentworth, rather than Anne. I loved it! The author continued the story of Anne and Frederick, but I would have loved the book even if there wasn't this final part. 5/5
Soon a review (I hope).
The Second Chance: A 'Pride & Prejudice' - 'Sense & Sensibility' Variation
The second chance by Joana Starnes. It is a variation of Pride and Prejudice in which, after Mr Bennet's death, Mrs Bennet and the girls go to live in Devonshire, so they meet the Dashwoods, Mrs Jennings and Colonel Brandon. I loved the scenes in which the characters from different novels interact.
4/5

Hi! This month I have read
"Mount Hope" by Sarah Price. It is an Amish retelling of "Mansfield Park". It is my favorite in the serie so far!

It was a good one, Carmen. I loved it, too. I especially enjoyed how she wrote the Elijah character a little different and made me like him better near the end. I'll have to check out your review.

I liked this Elija, too! It seems he was not so blind about Mary!
Well, I have to thank you, because after reading your review of Mount Hope, I went to register to NetGalley because I couldn't wait to read it! Plus, I have seen a loooot of books I'd like to read (my poor TBR list, hahaha).
And thanks for your kindness in stopping by at my blog and leaving a message!
@J.W.: Thanks, J.W., you have always a nice word for all!

Happy September! Oh, my, I'm very far behind in my Austenesque reads, and two books behind in Sarah Price's wonderful series! This is what happens to me when I get sucked into a cozy mystery series instead. :) So far, I've read: First Impressions: An Amish Tale of Pride and Prejudice Had to go back and read this first in the series. :)
Also read Jane Austen Lives Again
I enjoyed both books. I have a lot of catching up to do if I want to read four more books by January! Am about to re-read P&P, and wanted to join Austenesque reads (Meredith) group read of The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen, if I can stop reading Poirot for awhile. :)

Hey, cozies are fun read, too, Reina. Glad you could enjoy them.
Oh fun. I'm doing Meredith's Group read, too!

I've just been enjoying an audiobook of Poirot, Reina. It made me want to get onto the cosy mysteries again!
Ceri wrote: "I've just been enjoying an audiobook of Poirot, Reina. It made me want to get onto the cosy mysteries again!"I can't seem to stop reading them! I really want to listen to one read by David Suchet. Do you recommend the narrator of the one you're listening to?
The one I was listening to was short stories and the narrator varied. Some stories were narrated by one man doing all the voices and others had a narrator and David Suchet doing Poirot. It was an audible daily deal here a while back. It was pretty good. I liked the narration but I wasn't impressed by some of the stories.
I've made it to this level!I just finished A Spring Sentiment, and while I found it had some gaps, it wasn't too bad!

Yay, Victoria!
Glad to see you at Marianne level! Oh, I'd not heard of that one so I'll have to check out your review.

Thanks everyone! I finished a very quick (free) prequel called Attending a Ball. That's book #7!I'm going to read the main story it is the prequel for (one day) because I want to see if the changes to canon are explained - if they serve a purpose.
My review is here.

Welcome to Marianne, Victoria!
Hmm, yes, curiosity and need to know the reason spurs me on to read more often than not. Hope the main story answers your questions.

Book #8 is done! And I really enjoyed it! The Netherfield Affair: A Dark Darcy Mystery was a very enjoyable mystery! Not too dark, not too lame. The characterization was excellent! I'm looking forward to the next one in the series!

Hello, Marianne Dashwood level! A quiet weekend allowed for some unexpected reading time, and the weather and environs were just perfect for some Austenesque reading!
#6 Attending a Ball - Victoria's mention of this freebie some days ago caught my eye, and it was a delightful, easy read. It did hit a few language pet peeves for me - over-use of contractions, or modern phrases like "Guess what?" are very jarring for me in Austenesque writing. I think it is fine for the author to use those modern wordings while they're drafting their story, getting it down on paper. But afterwards, spending a little time to re-work the dialogue to use more authentic Austen-style wording can make all the difference. I did enjoy the story, and, like Victoria, am curious as to what purpose the changes to canon will serve. Looking forward to finding the next part of the story.
#7 - An Heir for Pemberley: A Pride and Prejudice Variation Short Story - well written, sweet story. First read for me by this author, will not be the last.
Working on my #8 - Rest and Restlessness: Mary Crawford, The Second Heroine of Mansfield Park - Mansfield Park, from the point of view of Mary. Reading this so soon on the heels of my listen to MP makes it almost a guilty pleasure. She's only just met the MP folks, and I'm very intrigued to see how events will play out from Mary's point of view.
If I have another weekend like the last, I might not be visiting here in Marianne Dashwood's library for very long - but I am so pleased to be here with the rest of you at this moment!
Welcome to the next level!!! Woohoo we are pleased to shout and cheer and you are already blazing forward. Congrats!
Look at you going to town, Lady Murmur! :)
I will definitely be reading your #8 read. I love books that tackle retellings and variations of Mansfield Park.

I look forward to hearing what you think of Rest and Restlessness. Mary Crawford one of my favorite heroines manqués!
