David Tollen | 29 comments Hello. Goodreads shows the wrong version of my book's cover when users search for it, and I'd like to fix it. But I can't figure out how.

The book has a new cover, and the old version is no longer available (except maybe in used paperbacks). Yet when users search on the title at Goodreads, they see the old cover, and they don't see the new one unless they know to look for it. So if they go to Amazon or other retailers, they'll be confused, since they won't see the cover they're expecting.

I'd like to remove the old cover from the system altogether. Is that possible?

If not, can we at least make the new cover the default, so that's what users find if they search for the book? (It should be the old cover that's hard to find -- the one you can't buy -- not the new one.)

The book has both a paperback and an e-book. Both are for sale with the new cover, which is mostly gold and yellow. The Jericho River, A Novel About the History of Western Civilization That gold/yellow version should show up, NOT the gray/black version showing a teenager from behind.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Arenda | 20165 comments Only you as the author can set the default edition, librarians can't.

David Tollen | 29 comments Thank you, Aretha. I've got an option to set "default chapters" and an option to set the "default description." Is that what you mean?

I'm not being given an option to set a default cover version.

Arenda | 20165 comments Librarians can't see all options you have as an GR author.
You can contact GR support. They can set the default for you.

Abcdarian | 19392 comments The link in message 2 explains how to set the default edition; you're looking for "Set this book as the primary edition for this work".

Arenda | 20165 comments The edition without cover was on the wrong author profile. I moved it to your profile.

David Tollen | 29 comments So I've got two profiles! I have no idea how that happened, but there should be only one. Can we combine "David Tollen" and "David W. Tollen" without creating a mess?

Ideally, I should be listed for all my books as "David W. Tollen." That's how the books are listed on Amazon and other retail sites.
