Serena Yates (serenayates) | 2 comments I am not sure what is going on here. I had corrected a mistake - someone had uploaded the incorrect images for ASIN B002HEXBAS (source: amazon http://www.amazon.com/Itch-Scratch-Co...) and for ISBN 978-1-60370-501-1 (see the publisher's website, http://www.torquerebooks.com/index.ph...). I have the books as well, so the data in the system is clearly wrong and those other images should never have been uploaded.

I wanted to make it right but someone has changed everything back again, so now the data is wrong.

Can someone please help?

GR does not ever change covers on published books, a new alternate cover edition is created.

Asteropê (21tauri) | 144 comments Hello. This might be helpful --

That image came from the publisher, actually. It was at one time, used as the cover, from all I can tell.

I had to use the Internet Archive, but I found it here:
https://web.archive.org/web/200812110...
(Scroll up to see it)
Up top you can see that image being used (black background, masked man), not the one on their website now.

That capture was from 2008. Which also coincides with that book's publish year.

My guess, that was the original cover and it was later replaced with the one listed on their site now and Amazon.
So to replace the covers is a violation of the rule. You'd need to make them as ACE for the new version.
I think that's why your changes were reversed.

Others with more knowledge could confirm or shed more light on it than I, I'm sure.
I just wanted to share that it was on the publisher's site and being used as the cover at one time. Or at the least, was used in association with this book.

:-)

Okay, that is very useful. It's just that I had bought the book, with that ISBN. So how do I create ACN editions that still have the ISBN/ASIN in the book information? The system won't accept the same ISBN/ASIN again, to my knowledge. Or can someone do that for me for those two books?

Thank you!!!

Serena Yates (serenayates) | 2 comments Ah, I see it now, someone added the alternative ASIN. I'll do the same for the ISBN.

:-)

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments They are already there, I linked to one of them in my first post. (That is, both are already there, please don't add ANOTHER edition)

The ASIN/ISBN always remain on the first published edition.

Asteropê (21tauri) | 144 comments When you make an ACE you don't add the ISBN(s) or ASIN for the ACE.
You leave those blank. You can fill out the other info though - publisher, page count, etc.

Up top, in the blurb I usually write:
Alternate cover edition for ASIN/ISBN #
I also add that to the ACE as a Librarian Note.

Here's actually a tutorial for ACE:
https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/8...

Here's an example of one:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/3...
And https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
Note on top of the blurb it reads:
Librarian's Note: this is an alternate cover edition - ISBN 10: 0553294903

Edit:

Here's one I did myself, as they updated the cover associated with the ISBN:
