Sandy Here's hoping I can "trick" myself to read owned books as regularly as I do library books.

1. Silk Parachute, completed Jan 26.

2. The Kitchen Boy: A Novel of the Last Tsar, completed April 23.

3. Waiting for Aphrodite: Journeys into the Time Before Bones completed Aug 5

4. The Alienist completed Aug 11

5. The Golden Age of Murder completed Aug 12

6. The Maltese Falcon completed Aug 22

7. What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions completed Oct 8

8, The Handsome Man's De Luxe Café finished Oct 28.

Good luck, Sandy!

Sandy I have finally finished an owned book: Silk Parachute by John McPhee. He is a wonderful writer and I greatly enjoyed these essays.

Unfortunately, while I have read one book, I have added several to my shelves since Jan 1. Sigh.

One down; 11 to go.

Sandy Have finally completed a second owned book, The Kitchen Boy: A Novel of the Last Tsar and only because I promised it to friend who will returning from the west coast this month. I am the type who needs a deadline! I need to pick up speed to reach 12 in 2016.

The book is excellent, a different view to the Romanov's execution, with a twist at the end that I'm not sure I "approve" of. I haven't decided if that fictionalized it too much.

Sandy Two more read; many more added to my shelves.

The Alienist: excellent view of NYC in the 1890's

Waiting for Aphrodite: Journeys into the Time Before Bones: loved this book and the authors connection with these over-looked creatures

Sandy And another, The Golden Age of Murder that I started 6 months ago!

Sandy Finished The Maltese Falcon - fun book with lots of twists.

Sandy Finished What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions, fun book but needs to be read slowly - too many questions at a time and they sound the same.

But only six weeks ... I'll be trying again next year.
