Myst | 494 comments Your fourth challenge looks really challenging. Unless some of those are short stories.

I stopped downloading all my kindle books to the kindle after a year when I realized my kindle was getting really sluggish. I've been trying to 'lighten' it's load ever since.

Kindle Keyboard holds 3600 books my foot. It gets sluggish at less than 1000! (I don't think I even own 1000 kindle books!) I've only loaded about 2-10 books on my new fire at a time so it doesn't get overwhelmed like the KK does. KK currently is at about 410ish books.

Interesting -- my Kindle Keyboard is also getting sluggish but I had assumed it had to do with its age rather than its contents. Do you notice it is more responsive now that you have less on it? I currently have over 800 books on mine...

message 39: by Myst (new)

Myst | 494 comments My KK is 5 years old, so the sluggish-ness of it could be a mix of age + book load (now).

I noticed it was getting sluggish within about 6-9 months after getting it when a majority of the books were downloaded.

I've got 1 horizontal line of dead 'cells' on my KK. Above where the text is so it doesn't bother me much.

I picked up most of my freebies from looking at free book sites and picking up everything in 1 genre (which was a huge mistake). Now I just skim the 'free books no chat' topic on the amazon forums, and there's rarely anything I want. Suggested a few to a friend when it looked like it might be nice for her kid.

I periodically do do searches for books in my preferred genre/s and/or authors. Usually on holiday weekends when promotions tend to go on. Happily (?), I rarely find anything worth picking up, so I can concentrate on reading and deleting the books I don't intend to re-read and trying to make the numbers more managable.
