RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I guess the Emmy nominations are coming out as we speak...

message 2: by Gus (new)

Gus Sanchez (gussanchez) Gee, I hope Barney Miller get a nomination...

I hardly watch TV these days, so I couldn't tell anyone who's deserving and who got snubbed.

Sarah | 13815 comments I'm excited that Lost got a best drama nomination, since most of the nominations came from cable.

I'm bringing this thread up because the Emmys were on last night. I watched some of it--Neil Patrick Harris is irresistable.

I like that the guy from Big Bang Theory was nominated for lead actor in a comedy. Too bad he didn't win.

I think the Emmys nominate a lot of good shows, but its just a tad annoying when 30 Rock wins everything every single year. I mean, seriously.....

It would be fun if there were some variety in the winners. Like, maybe 2 years ago, Entourage could have won Best Comedy. It wouldn't win now....

That's just my two cents, if anyone has theirs...

Stephen (stephenT) It's all political, they campaign just like for the Oscars. When I worked in theater Variety magazine used to run half and full page ads during every award season. Money talks. Money = number of viewers and ad revenue.

message 8: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'm so disillusioned. Money?

message 9: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Yes, never award talent and art, award the most ad revenue.

Gus Sanchez (gussanchez) Am I the only one who thinks 30 Rock isn't as funny as most critics and fans make it out to be? Don't get me wrong; it is a funny show, but in a droll, make-you-smile kind of way, and not that pee-your-short-and-fall-down-laughing kind of way.

On the other hand...It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, now there's a funny show.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Actually Entourage has been better this year again Stefano, it was lame for a couple years.

I see Larry is speaking volumes again!

message 13: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) "That which is funny" is not an absolute.

message 14: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) When Larry speaks with the enter key, he is speaking volumes. It took me a while to learn that.

Gus, I don't think it's all that funny.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

30 Rock is not as funny as the critics make it out to be Gus, but it does have its moments.

message 16: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Then give Gus an Emmy. hehehehe

message 17: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Oh, man, I love 30 Rock, but I think it's one of those shows that you have to watch consistently to get all the character-driven in-jokes and references...

message 18: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Liz Lemon boils my blood.

message 19: by Gus (new)

Gus Sanchez (gussanchez) RA wrote, Oh, man, I love 30 Rock, but I think it's one of those shows that you have to watch consistently to get all the character-driven in-jokes and references...

RA, that's exactly I don't find it as funny as I think it should be. It's become a little too obsessed with the in-jokes and references. The Office is also guilty of that. Again, I'm not saying 30 Rock isn't funny, because it is, but I think the praise that's lavished on that show is a bit far-stretched.

message 20: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Larry wrote: "Liz Lemon boils my blood."

We should worry about Larry.

message 21: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Why?

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Numerous reasons Larry! :-).

Actually I don't know why Larry. but Stephen will certainly explain.

message 23: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) When blood boils it's certain death.

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) What a way to go.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

I can think of many better.

message 26: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Between the three of us our ages add up to passion=obscenity. lol. Now, taken individually, it's okay, IF that is the reason Larry's blood was boiling.
Still, one must remember one's blood pressure.

message 27: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I don't have to explain my predilections. I just don't.

message 28: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I dig Liz Lemon/Tina Fey, too. She's smokin'.

message 29: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) I was trying to prevent your death from boiling blood. Call me outta here.

message 30: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Uh huh.

message 31: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13815 comments I love 30 Rock. It's absurd, and I'm happy that a network allows such a ridiculous show to continue despite its low ratings.

I'm also very happy that Michael Emerson (Benjamin Linus) won for Lost.
The man wrote the book on creepy.
