There is grave mercy by robin la fevers. It's historical and has some romance to it. It's about female assassins. Some light mythology involved. All souls triology. First book doesn't take place in the present but the second one does. It's like a 10x better version of twilight (I.e vampire romance that shouldn't happen, a council, and a few other things). The
Hi Yvonne, did you try Goodreads Listopia? Just enter medieval in the listopia search bar and there all kinds of medieval fiction lists, I’m sure you would find what you are looking for. Happy reading!
I think you would like Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. The romance doesn't overwhelm the rest of the story and plot but it is important to the story. And if you like it, it is the beginning of a long series. I am only on the fifth book.
The Winter King is the first in a trilogy about King Arthur. There is some romance but it's not a huge focus. Really great books though.
Rules of Ascension by David B. Coe is a decent series, but I should warn you there are a lot of characters. There's a lot of political intrigue in this one and it's an epic fantasy so I'm not sure it's something you'd like. The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson is another epic fantasy. They're not romances, sorry.
The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley is a great book. It revolves around the women in King Arthur's life, mainly his half sister Morgaine. It's part of a series, Avalon, but I've not read the others in the series yet.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_M...

I'm thinking something with the beautiful imagery and mystical/danger undertones of TLOTR trilogy, with an underlying romantic current like Braveheart (but with a happy ending!), with beautiful, brave protagonists.
Any thoughts?
