Hello, my name is JL Snyder. I am am the author of "Battle Cry (http://www.amazon.com/Battle-Cry-JL-S...)," it is a two volume stand alone coming of age series. It is geared toward middle school grade students. This past school year I had the honor of visiting a local middle school in El Paso, Texas. The eighth grade students read the first volume of "Battle Cry" as a class. After they finished the book, I was invited by the teachers to present and answer questions for each class. I had a blast. The students were awesome and had many wonderful questions and thoughts. "Battle Cry" was a huge hit with students and teachers alike. As a result of my visit, I created a list of Critical Thinking questions based on the middle school TEKS for Texas. These questions were given to the teachers for use with future classes when reading "Battle Cry."
Recently the second volume, "Battle Cry 2 Shadow of the Sword" was released (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1634...). It is the conclusion to the two part series. I am honored to say that this year's eighth grade class will be reading "Battle Cry 2" as well as "Battle Cry." I have also been invited back to present and answer questions for both books, once the assignments are completed. I am currently generating a new list of Critical Thinking questions for "Battle Cry 2." Teachers have mentioned to me that these types of questions are a great way to utilize thinking skills and strategies which allow students' to see things in different perspectives.
My goal is to first introduce and implement the "Battle Cry" series into all the middle schools in the El Paso area. The next step is to get "Battle Cry" into every middle school in Texas and eventually the nation. Wish me luck.
I am open to any advice, knowledge or assistance that anyone can offer.
