ABANDONED. Child Experimentation

There's this book that my teacher talked to me about around two years ago. It's about two scientists raising their own child in two very different environments (I think they were on an island, or one of them was, at least). They were gonna compare how it turned out and let both kids meet each other. Sadly, that's all I remember and I couldn't contact my old teacher. Anyone recognise the book? Or know of any books with a similar plot as this one? Thanks heaps.
