3. Uglies
4. Vampire Academy
5. Twilight
Karl May: Winnetou, etc (read long time ago)
Nienacki: Pan Samochodzik (read long time ago)

Reading Ender's saga now, but I'm not done with it, so I could not possily judge it yet.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I haven't read that many YA books, especially the newer ones so I'm settling for a top 3 list.

1. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
2. Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander
3. Artemis Fowl series by Eion Colfer

On the other hand, I get to look at what is considered good by most of my GR friends, so I don't have to wander in the dark on what YA books/series I should be watching out for.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) Ooh, yay, I'm such a sucker for YA series right now. Just went to a Cassandra Clare signing last night (surrounded by 14 year olds). LOL

1. Twilight Saga - Stephenie Meyer
2. Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead
3. Wicked Lovely - Melissa Marr
4. Morganville Vmpires - Rachel Caine
5. The Darkest Powers - Kelley Armstrong

An interesting side note, my library had the first 3 books in the Mercedes Thompson Series classified as YA. I have no idea why.

I was at a book store the other day and in the YA section they had a separate paranormal shelf - which I thought was really cool. However, they had Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld books on it rather than her Darkest Powers - which made no sense.

ஐ Briansgirl (Book Queen)ஐ (briansgirlkate) 1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
2. James Potter by G. Norman Lippert
3. Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
4. Mediator series by Meg Cabot
5. Trixie Beldon Mysteries (from my youth lol)

Melissa | 1245 comments I constantly reread the Georgia books because they are just so funny. They are a great pick me up and quick reads for after a dark, heavy book. I LOVE Angus. You really must keep reading the series, Shazzy. The cat stuff gets even better. The tenth, and final (boo hoo) book comes out this October.

message 13: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 1245 comments I only saw a trailer for the movie. Not sure they could do it justice. Have you seen it?

message 14: by Melissa (last edited Jul 17, 2009 09:48AM) (new)

Melissa | 1245 comments How much did it cover? Was it just the first book or did it go further? I'll have to find it now somehow! It hasn't been released in the U.S. I'm not sure if they will.

message 15: by Emily (new)

Emily The Blue Bloods books by Melissa de la Cruz are wonderful. :^)

message 16: by Kasia (new)

Kasia From what you've listed Janet, I was really taken with Uglies, but somehow Nix was lost on me, donno why...

message 17: by Annie (new)

Annie (themadnessofhamsters) I've managed to addict my oldest sister (she's 53) - who never reads young adult books - on Tamora Pierce! She started with the Alanna series, and is now half-way through Wild Magic quartet.
