Chapter 4 (view spoiler)[ I wouldn't have normally stopped but I really had to leave lol. I can't seem to put it down. Great start. I liked the multiple POV's. What I find really interesting is that not all of them are killers with the general meaning of the word. Anthony Marston for example, it was a car accident. Mr and Mrs Rogers seem innocent as well as Vera Claythorne. Others are definitely guilty of murderers like Dr. Armstrong and Lombard.

(view spoiler)[This is so interesting! With so many characters, I though the book would get confusing But it hasn't. The author's done a really good job of distinguishing them.

The general died. The judge seems too suspicious, like he knows too much. Dr Armstrong as well. Also, now we know all of them were guilty. Except for Vera which should be incriminating but she is always so afraid.

My guess is that Vera is next. Though now everyone seems so careful. The whole atmosphere is the worst, it seems almost peaceful all the time and then...

(view spoiler)[ The judge is dead. I don't even get how this happened everyone was upstairs. What I also don't get is why there are only 3 Indian boys now. Which means either that one of the men killed the doctor or that Dr Armstrong is the one and he took it to scare them. Maybe there is someone on the island after all, I feel like the three left are innocent and Armstrong is dead. Maybe it really was him and then he killed himself?

Finished (view spoiler)[ The chapter with the investigators is where I realized something was off, they found some clues that didn't match what had happened. The epilogue was incredible. Something was off with him from the start, he was too calm. When he 'died' though, I didn't question it at all.

I'm going to jump in on this one. I'm really in the mood for some crime fiction so I'm beginning a little early :)

First quarter - (view spoiler)[The cast of characters introducing themselves to the reader and each other was so interesting. Usually such an abrupt arrival from so many individuals at once would have felt jarring, but Christie manages to make it not seem so.

Second quarter - (view spoiler)[All of these characters have so much to hide and yet I somehow seem to like some of them, even though they clearly have horrible secrets they are hiding. I forget his name but the one character I DETEST though is the one who run over two children in his car and showed no remorse for doing so, and only showed sadness at loosing his license for a year. Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[The nighttime scene was so eerie! I felt their fear, seeing swinging hooks from the ceiling and hearing footsteps outside of the door. I also found it only got eerier from there, as the numbers dwindled to three. Vera surprised me by both killing another and then herself. What she did to the poor drowned boy was horrific and yet I somehow felt sorry for her, at the end.

This was a reread for me, so I knew who the killer was but this still impressed me just as much with how cleverly constructed the judge's justice was. There would be no way of me guessing everything the epilogue detailed! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I'm listening to this on audio, and my husband was listening as well, and when it got to the point where the poem was read, he said, "That is so creepy...." I also thought the way the characters were introduced was well done...I was worried at first because there are so many characters, but I'm following along just fine!! (hide spoiler)] Great start! And I've heard great things about this, so I'm looking forward to it! This isn't a genre I usually read!

It was my second time reading it and I loved it just as much as I did years ago. Such an incredible crime!

I wish I knew the characters well enough to call them by name, but with there being so many of them and with it being a short book, I've come to calling them by the way they died... And I don't have a physical copy of the book in front of me to look up their names, so maybe that's why I'm having a hard time remember their names.
