Week 10 Book:
The Lost Recipe for Happiness by Barbara O'Neal
Pages: 452
How it fits: #79 RITA Award winning books
Rating: 5 stars
What a lovely novel! So sensual in it's descriptions of taste and aromas and so raw with the memories and pain.
It's not your usual foody romance novel. It's so much more. A story about healing, making peace with the ghosts from your past and fulfilling your dreams. I loved everything about it - a lyrical style, great characters and slight touch of Magical Realism in it.

Title: Branded Ann by Merry Shannon
Date read: 11/17
Rating: 4 stars
Review
I really enjoyed this booked both Ann and Violet had so much to overcome from their past in order to move on. I liked when each got over their reservations about being together and finally asked the other what they wanted. Also loved the action and wondering what was going to happen next.
Week 9 - Completion PostBook:
The Trouble with Tomboys by Linda Kage
Finished: November 15
Rating: 4*
Review: I'm so happy I finally got around to reading this book! After reading Linda Kage's Fighting Fate and Loving Lies I knew I needed to read more by her. (I LOVED those two books!)
The story was so sweet. The chemistry between Grady and B.J. was exactly what you look for in a romance. I suppose this wasn't a very original storyline but it was wonderful nonetheless. I definitely recommend it!
I'm so sorry Amy and the rest of my teammates. We recently had a tornado go through our neighborhood and things have been a little rough lately. Then to top it off...our modem broke early Saturday and we couldn't replace it until Monday. But I apologize for not checking in. (It wasn't one of the big tornadoes that make the news everywhere. But it did put our little LaPorte, Texas on television! Lol It was an F2)@Rose I'm so glad you liked
It's definitely not for everyone. Lol Like you said theres a warning. The second book is really good too. A third comes out soon also. I can't wait for that one...after another cliffhanger!

By Nora Roberts

Rita award winner https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...
This was my first Nora Roberts book. Fiona is a dog trainer/ volunteer search and rescue team member. She meets and falls for Simon while a copycat serial killer is on the loose. Problem is, Fiona was the only victim of the original serial killer to live and get away.
I really liked the characters and the plot. I will definitely read another of her books.
Week 10 completion post
Rating: 5 stars
Review: Sex-y! I needed a break from my thoughts and this provided a seriously hot distraction. I liked Alexia's sexy brain and Blake's sexy everything. Together their chemistry was explosive. I laughed when Alexia's Admiral father tried to set her up. Sass and steam, oh my. This book provided exactly what I had hoped for - a terrific read that had a cute storyline and wonderful characters.
Week 10 - Completion PostBook:
Tied by Emma Chase
Finished: November 19
Rating: 4*
Review: YES! A perfect ending to a story I've fallen in love with! From book one, Tangled where Drew and Kate meet and fall in love, to this final book where they get married. The humor was still there. The sexiness was definitely still there! I absolutely love this series and highly recommend it to anyone!
@Heather - holy crap are you guys okay after the tornado? We are currently under our first winter storm warning of the season. Can't wait to see if we get 17 inches of snow or none. It's that time of year again. Anyway, I loved Ass or Gas, but it took me some time. I was really frustrated but in the end I got it. I read the 2nd one but it sounds like the 3rd one won't be out for a while. She's still writing it. Boo hiss but I'd rather the author write the book she wants to write than hurry and give us something she's not happy with.
Thanks Rose! Yes we're ok. I actually MISS the snow! Being snowed in for a few days. Only a few though! I'm from Baltimore and grew up with my fair share of snow storms but nothing like you can get. I agree...we don't want a rushed book but I don't want to wait anymore!! Lol Especially after the way it ended. Those books are DIRTY...but in the very best way! ;)

Week # 10
Book: Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
This is was an amazingly sweet book even with the dirty talking for everyone (including the 4 year old!!!). I loved that Claire and Carter are able to reconnect. I also loved that they were ordinary people. OK, I admit I enjoy a good billionaire romance every now and then but it was wonderful to read this that could be happening to my neighbors.
I discovered that Tara has written a follow up series about the children, the first follow Gavin in his attempt to win the lady of his dreams. I'm putting it on my TBR. I can't wait to see what kind of man he might have become.

Book: The Meat Market by James Chalk
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
This was a very fast read and not for the faint hearted. The author did a very nice job of explaining the technology and the world we find our hero in so you didn't feel lost as the story progressed. What was shocking was how suddenly he introduced some of the darker elements of the book. Thankfully things were hinted but still uncomfortable.
I really like the supporting characters, although with this book being so short you don't get much of anyone. Hopefully the next book will be a little longer and we can get to know some of them better.

Rush Too Far by Abbi GlinesRating: 4 stars
Review: This is Rush and his version of Fallen Too Far. Only problem is, there were two more books. I needed all of it from his POV, not just a taste. I haven't read the early part of this series for a while, so I did enjoy going back. However, his song to Blaire at their wedding was one of my favorite parts...and I needed to relive it. I guess I'll be re-reading soon.
I know the contest is over, but I wanted to complete my part of the game. Thanks for the fun!
:-) Elaine
@Heather - Unfortunately, yes this was the last week. It's been really nice to read with all of you over the last 11 weeks. The time just flew by. I'm looking forward to the next one. Hopefully I'll run into you all there!
For those of you in the States - Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Aww, I am sad its over. I always love this challenge. Thanks for letting me join a little late. :) You were all great teammates!

I really wanted to love this book but I never got into it. There was some hot sex scenes but in the end I never connected to either of the main characters enough to care what happened next. This just wasn't a good pick for me.

I really wanted to love this book and will likely try something else by this author. But, struggled with this one. Ehd was a lovable guy, very sweet. I just couldn't suspend reality enough to get on board with this one.

About halfway through this book, I wanted to punch everyone. Seriously every single character.
That's when I realized that I was into the story. I couldn't put it down and I cared about the people in the story, even though they were, frustrating.
At the end of the story I had to remind myself that the MC, Shelby, is 17 most of the book and then 18 and her step brothers are 20/21 - and they act their age.
I can see what people may not like this story, if you get too caught up in it you lose site of how immature these people are and that as humans we make terrible mistakes. We lie. We hurt people, especially when we're scared and that's what I took from this story.
If you read the authors warning and decide to read it anyway then it's on you if you didn't like it. She warns you. If you read the notes at the beginning of the book she clearly tells you it's taboo and it's not pretty - be prepared. It's brutal and I loved it.
Oh and did I mention how hot this book is? Damn!!!
