I really enjoyed this book it was funny and had me laughing quite a few times. Loved how loyal and close the Seaside Friends were. The chemistry between Bella and Caden was great. Loved all the Seaside Friends, Caden and Evan I hope to learn more about them as the series continues.

The Dare (The Bet, #3) by Rachel Van Dyken
Rating: 5 stars
Review: Jace and Beth get to experience evrything, Grandma-style, while in Hawaii. She even had a hand in getting them to end up there, together. Heck, she's in on everything...and has a LOT of help. I always enjoy Van Dyken's books. This one made me laugh to tears a couple of times. Beth is no longer chargeless and Mr. Senator has gotten over several issues of his own by the end of this one. A fantastically fun(ny) read.

Sins of Sevin by Penelope Ward
Finished: November 2
Rating: 4*

Review: For the first half of this book I wasn't too impressed but when it turned to Part Two halfway through I started to love it. I really liked all the characters. I found the arranged marriage to be a little odd. Does that really still happen? Anyway, it was good. People who are fans of Penelope Ward will be pleased.

His Billion Dollar Dilemma by Alexia Adams

Week # 8
Book: His Billion Dollar Dilemma by Alexia Adams
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
I've read a couple of romance novels lately that have dealt with tough women's issues. I was surprised to discover that this light romance novel also fell into that category. The interactions between the Hero and heroine were incredibly sweet helping to soften the darkness of the issue. I was very impressed with the way the author had written both the Hero's reaction to the heroine's past trauma and how he handled it.

Even if the story hadn't be fabulous, which it was, I would recommend this book for how well it handled a tough topic and managed to show both characters as strong independent people. Well worth a read if you enjoy a sweet (mostly) light romance.

Book: Deeper (Caroline & West, #1) by Robin York
Deeper by Robin York
Finished: November 3
Rating: 5*

Review: I'm so in love with this book. I've heard of it for awhile now but kept putting it off. Luckily, for a challenge I was forced to read it. I adored West and Caroline!! They were equally perfect characters. Caroline wasn't a pushover. West knew what he wanted and how to get it. He wanted Caroline. It is a little angsty but I LOVE books that are! I highly recommend it. This time I will not be waiting long to get to the sequel.

Very refreshing New Adult romance. No insta-love, no endless angst and suffering. Young college people acting like young people do - being positive and looking forward fulfilling their dreams and exploring life.
I loved the easy and light style of author's writing and for once, I could understand the NA characters and how they chose to deal with their issues from past and move forward.
Easy light and entertaining story.

Admittedly, I'm a KA junkie so it's probably no surprise that I liked this book. Even though there's a genie involved, the book wasn't hokie. Lily wishes for her romance novel fantasy (Nate) and she gets him years later. Their ride is BUMPY and frustrating at times. Like all KA books, Nate is a sexy alpha and Lily is sassy. Highly recommend.

Serpent's Kiss (Elder Races, #3) by Thea Harrison

Week # 7
Book: Serpent's Kiss by Thea Harrison
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
I loved the first book in this series but haven't enjoyed the following books nearly as much. This book was the same. It took a little while to get into the novel but the effort was worth it. The characters are well developed and feel real (if a vampire and a gryphon could be real!).

I loved the passion the Hero and heroine shared it was beautifully written. Both characters were strong and had difficulty yielding to their feelings. I also like the mystery aspect as they worked to solve Carling's illness.

I'll continue to read this series and hope that my difficulties in getting into the stories initially fades away. Especially since they are well written and worth the effort.

Sensible Housekeeper, Scandalously Pregnant (Presents Extra) by Jennie Lucas

Week # 9
Book: Sensible Housekeeper, Scandalously Pregnant by Jennie Lucas
Rating: ★★★
Review:
I often find Harlequin books a little like fast food. They are light and enjoyable at the time but leave you feeling a little unsatisfied in a way that is hard to describe. But you always come back for more.

This book was just like this. It was a light quick read, that unfolded as I expected. Whilst leaving me feeling a little dissatisfied. I really liked the way the story was told and the authors unusual approach to the timeline. I also liked the strength she gave the heroine. If I was pressed as to what caused the 3 star rating I think it would have to be the pace of the story. There was very little character development but when you know going in it's only 180ish pages I really shouldn't expect more than I got.

Yes - I probably would read another of this author's book simple because she was true to the style and it was a great light read.

Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles, #1) by Ilona Andrews
Title: Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews
Rating: 4 stars
Date read: 11/9

Review

Dina is an Innkeeper at an Inn that specializes in unique guests. She has to follow certain rules as part of her role as Innkeeper. She has to make tough choices when a killer stalks her neighborhood. Will she follow the rules or help save her community. I really enjoyed this book it started off slow to me but picked up quickly with lots of action. The world was very interesting I liked learning more as the book continued. Discovering more about Dina's background and her role as an Inn keeper was great. Sean, Arland and Caldenia were also awesome characters I can't wait to know more about. I will be reading the next book to see what's gonna happen next with Dina and the Inn.

I read my first Charley Davidson book earlier this year and was hooked. While on vacation with my inlaws I laughed so hard, out loud, while reading one of these that my mother-in-law was worried I was loosing it.

Darynda Jones, I am so sad it took me so long to find you and Charley and the gang but I am so glad that I did.

Sixth Grave on the Edge was exactly what I wanted it to be. Suspenseful, hilarious, sassy, sarcastic, sexy and fun to read. I love Charley and her crazy life - her crazy friends and family. I may have a crush on her man, I mean holy hell is he hot (pun in tended).

Another fun and exciting read in the serious, I can't wait to see what happens next.

Forever My Girl (The Beaumont Series, #1) by Heidi McLaughlin

Rating 2.5 stars

I should start off by saying that certain themes in this book (guy leaves out of the blue/no reason; girl doesn't notify guy that she had his child) are not my thing as a reader. Since these were central to the story, Liam and Josie had major trust issues. I didn't care for Josie as a character. I'd like to try a different book by this author, though. There were aspects of her writing style that I liked.

Forever My Girl (The Beaumont Series, #1) by Heidi McLaughlin Forever My Girl
Rating: 5 stars
Review: I was moved to tears a few times while reading this. While Mason's death may have spurred Liam to come home. Clearly his real motivation was righting the wrongs he did to Josie (and in turn himself and unknowingly, Noah) ten years previous. I liked how while the pull between them was still there, Josie did not jump into his arms immediately upon seeing him. There were real struggles and emotions depicted in this book. The story far exceeds these pages and I will be reading more of this series.

2 stars

A big disappointment.
This book makes me sad for the same reason why I didn't like another very popular NA book Beautiful Disaster. They give young girls such a perverse idea what is a good relationship and what kind of guy is worth their affections and love. I get the "bad boys are interesting" thing but still, there are some things that should not be romanticised.

My biggest issue with this book was the male lead being a stalker. No excuses here. Stalking is never cute, romantic or good thing, it's creepy and wrong. It's wrong even if the stalker "has the most beautiful blue eyes" and makes a girl "melt into a puddle" and "lose all her wits" with only one look at this supreme specimen of male species. Girls should know better if they have some working brain cells at all. And this brings us to our heroine - a tough, independent badass who has gone through a lot. She claims to have the toughest, hardest walls around her but still falls for the creep with only one look. Stupid. For sure one of the heroines who fall under the TSTL category for a reason. Knowing her story, I was expecting through the whole book for her to wake up and see who this guy really was, but she never did and instead she kept making the dumbest choices. So sad.

With barely mediocre writing, unpleasant main characters and so many NA cliches all crammed into this book, I rolled my eyes so many times while reading it that I'm surprised not DNF-ing. Especially after I guessed the "big twist" in the story early on.
