ummm . . .about myself, well
my two favorite bands of all time are Guided by Voices( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guided_b... ) and Pavement ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavement... ). I love to write fantasy and historical fiction. I'm also obsessed with dragons, ravens, magic, chocolate, sugary food, and reading. Goodreads is basically the only social networking site I'm on if you don't count Teenink.
Um, just to gey things cleared up, I'm a girl. And . . .that's about all I can think of at the moment!

Ilana (ilanashayn) | 313 comments I read 7 chapters of Silver Moon, Golden son. It was great! There are typos of course, but you said to ignore them. One of the funny ones was when you wrote "barley" instead of "barely". You did that a couple times in chapter two of The Lay of Fenris that I saw. Heheh.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

lolz, spellchecker doesn't fix words spelled correctly used to the wrong context!
Thanks for reading!

Chapter 1 of Specter(The Choosing) is finished! http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/4...

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I just wrote an extremly soulful piece, probably one of the most deep I've written in awhile . . .and it was for a friend request. where is the irony in that???

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Here's a part of Fenris that I really like, but I'm trying to find ways to improve it. Any ideas???

His footfalls made no sound as he walked through the grass, bright with morning dew. His pelt was the color of flickering shadow, his voice the sound of distant wind chimes. He was there, yet he was not. He was nobody, but everyone at once. He was the most powerful being in the universe, yet he was also the weakest. He existed on the edge of time, the edge of space, as if a single breeze could knock him over the edge.
Some scholars say that it is possible for beings, when killed, to hold on to a scrap of emotion that keeps them tethered to this world and out of Limbo. Not many believe it, but what else could he put faith in when he was faced with proof?
He was here, perhaps in a twisted sort of way, but he was here. He had remained when millions of others had let go and drifted into a fragile eternity. He had remained, while no one else had.
He had remained, because of one thing, one emotion: the desire to protect his one great love.

Ha ha! I won the short story contest! I feel so happy. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Yah, never mind.
Anyway . . . . .I've gotten really into short stories so I'm probably going to be posting a book of them on goodreads soon. When I finally get around to doing it I'll post the link.
No one actually reads this, do they? This is simply the ramblings of a mad fantasy/short story writer. If anyone actually is reading this; you haz earned yourself a cookie.

message 41: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 29, 2010 11:35AM) (new)

I'm posting this here because no one really goes to this topic. Please do not steal this otherwise I will go and cry. If you want to use it in a story (you won't) message me.

In life there are defining moments, we are
Clay and those
Are gentle nudges that make us who we are, that create us and at the end there will be a finished piece of art whether the sculpture is good or bad all depends on circumstance

All around us are fallen angels, people who once cared, who once felt joy, who once felt love now reduced to wrecks with glassy eyed stares
They do not care anymore, to truly be a god you must be prepared to walk among these people to aid them in their sorrow, these fallen angels, they are warnings but we shall not heed them and one day we will be loosened from our pedastal and begin our
Lonley
Descent

Man believes he is free because he can choose but does he choose to be chained to a desk all day? does a man choose to come home,
Sweaty and exhausted and unsatisfied? the only true freedom is the freedom of a bird as they soar through the air they have no chains to drag them down metaphorical or physical they are the ones that are
Truly free

Wishing is a fool's refuge you cannot change things unless you take your
Dreams and make them
Into reality wishing and praying to an entity that may or may
Not exist will not help you it is an ocean you shout your words
To it and it
Carries them away, uncaring and
Merciless it drowns your words in
Fear.

The river stops for no one, it runs on regardless of war that rages around it people die upon its banks yet it does not slow to save or help them it surges
Forward, thinking it
Is a god until it reaches the ocean where
It realizes
That it
Is
Nothing

Inspiration is everywhere, men look to the stars
To find guidance while they are missing the little things that make life worthwhile, there is inspiration in a leaf, in a sparrow's song, there is inspiration in death and life and birth there is nothing we cannot find if we only start to look in the right places

Why does light always have to triumph? why is the darkness always bad?
Man has a fear of the unknown, what he cannot define, label, put
In a category is evil to him because he cannot control it man does not want to know that he
Is weak even though in his heart he realizes it
he lives in fear
Of
The
Truth

Order is based upon chaos there can be no utopia because light cannot exist without shadow there is evil in the world and there always will be any attempt to change that is
Evil within itself

Things that have so much meaning to us today had humble
Beginnings imagine if your entire faith
Your entire belief in the
Universe was based upon some
Ancient form
Of fortune
Cookie someone wrote, what if you discovered that you were wrong all this time and that there was no light at the End of the tunnel, no happily ever after what if you discovered that you would spend an eternity wandering a gray field alone?

The stars are the gods of distant universe they are huge and they are small it is all relative an apple is huge compared to a pebble an apple is tiny compared to a house everything is relative how can we define who we were when we are incapable of defining the size of a pebble?
Sure we can measure it with inches and centimeters and millimeters bur that is relative also in relation to lightyears the distance to the stars is infinite yet tiny it all depends on who we are

The Dreamhouse

These days, my friend Sleep does not comes as easily as he used to. When I was younger he would take me in a matter of minutes, now it takes much cajoling from herbal tea and endless fields of sheep to bring him to my side.

For me, Sleep is a sanctuary from a troubled world. When he holds me in his black wings and transports me to another land, I am safe. But only then.

In my slumber I live in a Dream Meadow in my Dream House. I have a little Dream Cat that lives with me.

Every night I meander without purpose through my meadow untill I reach the door of my house. It is big and black and labyrinthine, the paint is peeling and it is drafty, but it is mine, and mine alone.

I push open the door slowly, savoring the rush of musty air that reminds me of my childhood. I stroll down the faded carpet, concious of the bats and birds staring down at me.

Dream Cat is waiting with a quiet purr and a secretive feline smile. When I approach she rubs against my leg. Animal love is the purest form, untainted by lies and treachery.

A fire flares to life in the old fireplace, as much alive as you or I. The fire is a hungry demon and I feed it some logs to keep it happy.

As always, the table is already set with food. Plates piled high with unnamed delicacies adorn the silken tablecloth.

In the corner lies an ancient record player, beside it are piles of albums. Usually I choose the Beatles, but sometimes I listen to jazz for a change.

Yes, within my Dream House lies happiness. Inside my secret place I am safe. I run in my meadow, bare feed bouncing off springy grass. Around me, carpets of wildflowers bloom. Sometimes I pick flowers to put in the vase on the Victorian nightstand. They never wither. That's one of the things I like about my Dream House. Once I step inside the impossible becomes possible and fantasy becomes reality.

In my Dream House, I can fly. Standing on the window ledge I have no fear. I cannot die here in my safe Dream world. I throw myself in the air and suddenly I am soaring, a canary released from it's cage. There is no greater joy than flying and I feel sorrow for all the poor earthbound people.

But then comes the end of my dream. I am flying and flying and suddenly my arms turn to lead weights instead of wings. I plummet, hurtling towards the ground. Just before I crash, I wake.

And when I wake I wake in chains.

I wake in a jail cell, where my only comforts are the herbal tea they bring me each night.

I cry, wishing for my Dream House and my Dream Meadow and my little Dream Cat. I cry, wishing to fly.

I am a prisioner once more.
