The Shadow of the Wind (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

Book Summary
Barcelona, 1945: A city slowly heals in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, and Daniel, an antiquarian book dealer’s son who mourns the loss of his mother, finds solace in a mysterious book entitled The Shadow of the Wind, by one Julián Carax. But when he sets out to find the author’s other works, he makes a shocking discovery: someone has been systematically destroying every copy of every book Carax has written. In fact, Daniel may have the last of Carax’s books in existence. Soon Daniel’s seemingly innocent quest opens a door into one of Barcelona’s darkest secrets--an epic story of murder, madness, and doomed love.

Kaya | 23 comments It's one of the best books I've read this year. The writing style is stunning.

Silvia Turcios | 396 comments I think this story is really good, but the reason I love so much this book is the narrative style. The way it is written is so beautiful!

I agree. Just started it myself.

Kelly (kellysrambles) I started this book on the train this morning. I've only read the first few chapters so far but I really love the style of the writing.

Debra | 52 comments I absolutely loved this book. I found it very hard to put down.

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 1 comments This is my favourite book and has been since it was first published. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. The next two The Angel's Game and The Prisoner of Heaven are a bit darker, but also worth a read

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 24 comments I'm finding it a bit slow half way through, but still finding it a compelling read.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Absolutely amazing book! I started reading a library copy, and had to go buy my own. I have been recommending it to everyone I know, and nobody has found it dull yet!
