What is Daenerys' last name?

Her full name is Daenerys Stormborn. Her last name is Targaryen. It's kinda like when people have two first names, like Mary-Kate or Georgia-Rose or something like that. Does that make sense?
That's what I get from it anyways. Stormborn is like a second first name that's only mentioned in titles (Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen mother of dragons blah blah blah)
I don't know if that's 100% correct but I'm pretty sure it's something along the lines of that. I was really confused for a while as well.
Her last name - in the sense of family name - is Targaryen. 'Stormborn' is simply an additional name given to her because she was born during a massive storm. It's not her last name.
What Mitali said; Targaryen is her family and house name. "Stormborn" is an epithet or sobriquet of sorts, as she was born on Dragonstone during a gigantic storm.

In my understanding Targaryen is her house or dynasty name. A surname if you will. Stormborn is like a nickname like the name Erik the Red. It's just a name that describes the person and becomes attached to them.
Tom wrote: "Stormborn also helps to distinguish her from the other Danaerys females in the Targeryan lineage."There is literally only one other Daenerys that we know of, that married the Prince of Dorne over 100 years before the series began.

Still, there's more than one. And I for one would appreciate having an entry for Danaerys Stormborn Targaryen and Daenerys Targaryen in listings in which both are present.

She says it as if it's both.
She might say "Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen" (or something of the likes)
Even in the appendix at the back of the books, it says, Daenerys Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Khaleesi of the Dothraki, called Daenerys Stormborn........
So which is it? Unless it really is - confusingly - both.
