Abby | 5454 comments From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding—but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia's gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn't need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother's leaked "fake" wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia's father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone—especially herself—that she's not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?

Kirsty | 1332 comments I can't wait to start reading this :)

Kirsty | 1332 comments When I heard that Meg Cabot was writing an adult novel to add to the Princess Diaries series I was really excited. I loved the Princess Diaries series when I was younger and it is one of the first series that I remember reading.

So far I am 32% in and I am really enjoying it. I've missed these characters so much. Mia is still really funny and her and Michael are so sweet together.

Kirsty | 1332 comments 62% read: Whilst I am enjoying reading about these characters again I feel that this book is a bit too slow paced for my liking at the moment. I've also remembered things I disliked from the original books such as the character of Mia who at times can be really annoying. One thing I enjoyed about the original books is that they were so quick to read, this one is double the length but I find that not a lot is happening at the moment so it is taking me longer to read than I thought it would.

Kirsty | 1332 comments I finished reading it today. I enjoyed it quite a lot. At times it was a bit slow but it did pick up towards the end. I loved reading about the characters again. The ending was left quite open and Cabot could easily pick up the story again. I hope she will as I would love to see (view spoiler) I gave this book four stars as although it was enjoyable at times it was a bit slow and maybe a bit childish for an adult novel.

Abby | 5454 comments Chapter 3: I don't remember anything from the other books, but that doesn't seem to matter too much. This reads like Meg Cabot's Heather Wells series, which I like.
