Books similar to this?

Anyone have ideas of books with a similar feel? I usually run across this type of work in fanfiction, in AUs where the MC is evil. However, I really liked this books dark themes and constantly look for other books like it. I initially put off reading it because the summary reminded me of a book that I didn't like: Lost Lands: The Game - Atlantis, something I now regret doing. I'm going to be constructing a list soon with books that have similar themes. Any help would be appreciated.

Rhydian,

The main reason I write the way I do is because I've only ever encountered a handful of books done in this kind of a brutal style. There is not much out there that is similar.

You might want look at https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... and his Caine series https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... is the first book. This series left an indelible impression on me when I read it.

If you're never read them, other things you might look into are the Black Library publications for Warhammer and Warhammer 40K. There several hundred novels set in their game universes and some are extremely dark and twisted though they lack the raw violence and profanity of my writing style for Path of Transcendence. You might find some of these interesting.

I especially recommend the Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett. Story wise it's nothing like what I write, but the prices that Eisenhorn pays for power and Abnett's writing style made it extremely enjoyable for me to read.

Brian.
