Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It's company policy.) But they can't quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.

Meanwhile, Lincoln O'Neill can't believe this is his job now- reading other people's e-mail. When he applied to be "internet security officer," he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.

When Lincoln comes across Beth's and Jennifer's messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can't help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.

By the time Lincoln realizes he's falling for Beth, it's way too late to introduce himself.

I finished it yesterday, and while it was a fun read, the ending didn't really satisfy me...

As for Lincoln, i came to like him, but I don't know if I'm okay with what he does

BUT these words just freaked me out. Imagine if someone was reading your emails and visiting your desk secretly because they were curious about you...

In my work contract, for instance, it is said that, regarding the use of computers, the employee should not expect to have privacy while using the company's resources.

(view spoiler)[Quite an abrupt ending, 95% of the book the main characters don't meet and then the last 5% went by quite quick like they've known each other all their lives
It was crazy how Beth didn't really know Lincoln other than the fact that he's cute and was reading her emails lol... but she just fell in love with him like that.

It's a good thing Lincoln isn't some sort of creep? (though he did kind of stalk her and all in the beginning which I found quite creepy haha)

But Beth did her fair share of stalking too so I guess they were meant to be! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 46 (view spoiler)[ Sam is such a bitch. I don't blame her for wanting different things once she started college, I think that's pretty standard but wtf. I felt like she was already wanting to dump him before she made him drop his scholarship and move across the country with her. Then she ditches him and hooks up with some other guy.

I also was a bit surprised that Sam liked Beth, at the beginning of the novel I thought he would have gone for Jennifer but I'm liking Beth more each chapter and its less dramatic to like a woman that's not married. Although I don't see how he could hook up with her given the privacy invasion, job or not. (hide spoiler)]

I'm through Chapter 36.. I'm enjoying this book! I had to stop midway through the chapter telling about Sam and Lincoln talking in the park after the break up because I'm going thru some stuff in my relationship too and it made me cry.. It was too much, too close to home. Breakups suck.. really bad

I finished.. I'm just so relieved that they finally met and that it was the fireworks we all hoped for..

You know that feeling you get when your going up the steep incline on a rollercoaster.. I felt like that this WHOLE book.. And then we finally got to the top and did the fun part for like two chapters and then the ride/book was over.

It was cute and fun read but I wish the happy ever after came sooner and lasted longer.

You haven't lost much, they were super boring and weird. Those girls were supposed to be teenagers or college freshmen, yet they were way too mature for their age and quite boring as characters :( .

Yeah, I love Lincoln's mom. Actually, everyone in this book so far is just freaking lovely XD.

Don't worry about being slow, but I do have to return this tomorrow so I'll probably finish it soon. Sorry. But I'll still be here to discuss this with you ^^.

So about the ending:
(view spoiler)[It's the main reason why I gave this book only 3 stars. It's actually a solid 4 if the characters wouldn't have just jumped into let's get married in the last 3 chapters. they barely knew each other. Ok, so Lincoln read Beth's mail, but Beth only knew how Lincoln looked and nothing more...
Besides that this was an extremely enjoyable book. I think miss Rowell does far more better with adult books than she does with her YA. All her teenagers whine about unimportant stuff. At least all her adults whine about more important life problems ^^. (I also have Beth's problem regarding the arm hiding, and I'm not even as old as she is, lol XD). (hide spoiler)]

All in all, a very entertaining read. Too bad for the rushed ending. :(

I personally think she has no talent for YA, but you are free to try those 2. Also, based on GR's ratings they seem to be much more appreciated. I'm probably just the exception in the crowd. But hey, if you're not enjoying a book you could always like... you know, just drop it :P .

I also gave this only 3 stars because of the rushed ending and, let's face it, Lincoln was a wimp. I really hope in real life most good guys do have a little more courage than he did, because I feel like Beth right now. XD
