Ethan Nahté (nahteboy) | 11 comments My name is Ethan Nahté. I write speculative fiction, focusing on horror more than anything else because it's great therapy. I have several stories still do out over the next few months, including horror pieces in the Lovecraft world. I also worked in TV & Film for many years, so watching horror is another great past time. Years ago, I even worked in haunted houses, once scaring a person so badly they went through the sheet rock wall and back into the room they had just exited. I call that a successful scare!

Kelsey Bentley (kelsbendo96) | 13 comments Hey everyone,

A little about me - I love horror and urban exploring. The creepier the location the better, they’re brilliant for inspiration. I won a local award for my poetry and writing. I have developed a bad fear of needles this year - though I used to be a tattoo artist! Reading was my favourite hobby as a child and is still now. Some recommendations would be great 👍

Kelsey Bentley (kelsbendo96) | 13 comments I’ve just finished a Stephen King book, if there is a paranormal one or something unexpected like aliens that would be awesome! I want change up my usual type of vamps, wolves or ghosts! Thank you, Alan!

Kelsey I recently read The Beauty which was a rather bizarre little horror story! Also really enjoyed The Mall and The Ward by S.L. Grey

Camden I was a massive Stine fan throughout my childhood and big King fan now so you're in good company :)

Pajama Sam Hey I'm Han, I've read only a few horror books but would love to get more suggestions here! I can't watch horror movies but I find the soundtracks really amazing. Also, I love all things ghosts, aliens, or cryptids!!

Josh Malerman's Bird Box and Black Mad Wheel are both "different" and very good'
The Red Tree, The Grip of It and The House Next Door are all "different" paranormal/haunted house tales.
Paul Tremblay's The Cabin at the End of the World and A Head Full of Ghosts are both excellent and on the different side.
David Wong's John Dies at the End series is hilarious and definitely different.
See if any or all of those sound appealing and if not I can dig deeper into my read list for more recs.

Aloha | 4052 comments Hi everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Maybe someone mentioned this, but I just turned on my HULU channel and found out they have this amazing lineup of movies and shows of varying horror themes for October, from very scary to foreign to indies. If you don’t have HULU, you can do a trial subscription for free.

I think season 3 of Stranger Things is planned for mid 2019. I just re-binged on the first two seasons last week to try to make up for the lack of season 3 this halloween.

Ramsey Campbell's Ancient Images has always been a favorite of mine by modern writers. It deals with Karloff & Lugosi, but the evil isn't a vampire or man-made monster.

Charles de Lint's Yarrow is pretty cool, too. Not exactly scary, but the being that comes across from another dimension is a ruthless character.

Grim Rainbow (Leslye) (thegrimhobbyist) | 0 comments Hello, hello! New here. Oddly enough, although I enjoy watching horror movies and TV, I haven't branched out too far into the horror genre of reading. I thought I might change that (there for awhile I was wading through urban fantasy and pnr books with the occasional sci-fi or fantasy tossed in until I grew bored). Excuse me as I root through your book suggestions to add a bunch of horror to my quickly growing to-read pile.

I will have to check this out! Personally, I am excited for Netflix's Sabrina (on the 16th) because if it's anything like the comic, it will be eerie as hell! And I'm curious to see their take on The Haunting of Hill House (the 12th)

Char | 17501 comments Hello and welcome, everyone!

The "What Are You Reading?" and the "What Have You Just Read?" threads are chock full of great books, and not so great as well.

If there is a certain sub-genre of horror that you love, (such as creature-features, haunted houses, redneck cannibals), ask for recommendations in the Recommendation section. You are sure to find something to fit every want and need. :)
