My name is Shawnda I am a librarian and a horror lover since my tween years. I just happened upon this group by accident and I am excited to find some new suggestions to read. I just stumbled upon the book "The Shuddering" by Ania Ahlborn and loved it so if you are looking for something new to try I highly recommend it.

Welcome, Shawnda! Glad you are here! If you like Ania’s work, check out “Seed”. One of my favorites. If you want something a little more extreme, check out “Kin” by Kealan Patrick Burke. You can’t go wrong with anything Kealan puts out there. Edward Lorn, Michael McBride, Jack Ketchum, Adam Cesare, Brian Keene, Richard Laymon, Robert McCammon, etc. So many horrors...so little time.

Hello my name is Scott Jones I am a new author and I also love to read. I have released My ghosts and I which is about true ghost stories. I have just released a book called Heritence which some of it is based around hospitals, sleep paralysis and evil spirits. Here is a little snippet. I am a new author and still learning. Constructive criticism is helpful:From this corridor, you could see an adjourning corridor that had glass windows all around. Suddenly I feel the temperature change from sticky and sweaty to cool and then from cool to cold. I look up to see if there is anyone else around. There is a part of me that wished I had stayed on the ward and had a cuppa instead. While looking through the window towards the other corridor I can see what looks like a young woman walking slowly towards where our two corridors would meet. The way her back was shaking tells me she was crying, she has her face in her hands and something dark was sliding down her cheeks. She is wearing a flowered summer dress with a pale cream shawl which seems to hang behind her. Her hair is brown and braided and should have been falling down her back but whatever was causing her shawl to trail behind was having the same effect on her hair too. The butterflies start again in my belly and my pulse jumps from first to fifth gear. As our corridors get a little closer, I noticed the colour of what at first, I took for mascara. It was red! It was blood! I begin to slow down but I am already at the junction point. As I came around the corridor I hold out my arms to protect myself but I find nothing. All along the corridor where I have just seen the woman previously, there is nothing… Until I look at the floor. Halfway up the corridor and ending just in front of me are sets of bloodied footprints. The temperature of this corridor is still freezing and then I hear whispered from behind me “Richard”. I jump and turn around, slowly moving away is the young woman. She is hovering above the floor but moving away from me. I say hovering, her feet are not there yet her legs make the movement as if she is walking away from me. Still, the bloodied footprints appear with every step. She carries on for a few feet and then stops. By this point, I am slowly beginning to back away from her. She turns on the spot very slowly and lowers her hands. What I see before me sends me sprinting away at full speed. Her eyes are completely red and it is as though someone has sliced through her mouth; rotten teeth are easily seen through these horrendous wounds.
Hope to get to know people. Thank you Scott Jones

I am a new author who has released a book called Heritence by Scott Jones on Amazon. It is to do with spirits, hauntings and a form of hell. I have tapped into hospitals and things that are a little freaky as I am a nurse too.

No worries, Scott! There are several threads here that you can post information and links to your work. We value all authors here at HA but also need to maintain the integrity of the group for the readers. Good luck with book, btw.
Hi all, new to the group. First ever book group, big horror guy. I love Stephen King, Josh Malerman (fellow Michigander), Pynchon, Keene and many others. I look forward to hanging out and learning a lot from you guys and gals. Halloween is coming so wanted to get things going. Great to be here!
Thanks Kirsten, you will not be sorry w/ Malerman, what better time to start than Halloween coming up right! Who would you recommend as far as authors? Always looking to broaden my horizons.
Greetings and salutations friendo Bob. I just finished Black Mad Wheel and earlier this year read Bird Box and loved both books. Malerman has become one of my new fave authors.

Hello! I am a big horror fan from Sweden. I like horror movies, tv shows, music, art, and books of course. I have been a member of the group for a couple of weeks and thought I'd introduce myself now that I decided to join in the group read for september. Due to dyxlexia and aspergers I read slow, have a hard time concentrating and get very exhausted reading physical books, so I'm glad to discover how open groups here seem to be towards audiobooks. However, I am looking forward to challenging myself with reading more, with my eyes and not my ears, so I did pick up a physical copy of The Fireman from the library and will do my best to keep up with you guys. :)I hope everyone have a good day.
