Hi people, I am currently in Salt Lake City, Utah. I love horror movies and novels. My favorites are Stephen King, HP Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe.
Hi there, I'm Peter Stadlera and I really enjoy all kind of horror novels mostly from the 80s and early 90s. I've put together a very long reading list I have to come through. Sometimes I think I live in the neverending 80s and constantly bring back my youth!
Hello everyone! My name is Juanita and I love gothic horror and the newly discovered (for me) horror paperbacks of the 70s and 80s. I recently hit the jackpot at a book sale so I acquired some classics.
A couple favorites are The Elementals by Michael McDowell and Fevre Dream by George R R Martin.
Hi All,Horror met me in 1980 in a cinema in the city I live in, Brisbane. I was watching The Shining. Life was never the same. The artistry of that movie, the wonderful creepy feel, the setting, the cliche ridden plot that was drawn so well, the degree of feel and mastery, like a master driver dodging pennies on a road. The voice was magic, the hand driving it divinely fiendish.
I love books and writing and when I can talking to other people about books.
Cheers Bark.As it happens I quite like writing about bark, the texture, the colour, the scent of the wood infused with the biology of the forest.
Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well. So I've completed my first Mexican heroine vampire novel and finally slithered from my writing cave until my editor gets back to me. Looking forward to finding new books and possibly a few readers.
Not yet! It’s with my editor and cover art in process. I need a distraction while I wait. Hoping to get website up and running soon.
Hello. I'm not good at introductions, but I wanted to say hello anyway. My name is Pam, and my favorite genres are horror and mysteries. I don't like the slasher type of horror books; I prefer supernatural horror, or I think it's sometimes called Gothic horror. There are so many grey areas, overlaps, and sub-genres these days, I find it confusing sometimes. I don't mind blood and gore if it's needed for the story, I just don't want it to be the story. I enjoy ghosts, haunted houses, graveyards, and that sort of thing. I also love vampires, but I don't like the new variety that seems to be so popular today. Not that there's anything wrong with it, it's just not my cup of tea.A few years ago I read Dracula by Bram Stoker. I've been watching the movies my whole life, and I finally read the book. I loved it so much, I spent the next few weeks re-watching all the Dracula movies I could find, just so I could be critical and compare them to the book. Then I read Dracula the Un-dead by Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt. I loved it! Then I read The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. Then I moved on to other books because, although there are lots of vampire books out there, I couldn't find more like these ones. What I call good ole fashioned vampires. I'm sure there are more, it's just that the market seems saturated with the new breed of vampire I mentioned earlier in this post. But, there are lots of other horror books to keep me happy, so all is good. I've been reading mysteries for a while, and I was really in the mood for a good horror story, so I started poking around Goodreads and the web. I couldn't believe my eyes! Dacre Stoker and J.D. Barker has a new book coming out this October, titled Dracul. It's a prequel to Dracula. I read a little about the book, thinking this is going to either be awesome or it's going to be absolutely horrible. Although it would be fun to read it in October, I found myself so anxious, I just had to have it now. I've never done this before, but I started looking around for an ARC I could get my hands on. Yes, I have a problem, and it started when I read Dracula on my Nook. Such a simple little thing! lol I found a copy on eBay for a good price, and I got it. I'm only at the beginning, but so far it hasn't let me down.
Well, look at that! I didn't know what to say in my introduction, but once I got on a role, there was no stopping. I do seem to have a Dracula addiction. I also started reading the Pendergast series by Preston and Child. I started with book #14, and was into it when I realized it's part of a series, so after I finished it, I started with the first book. The last one I read was #3 The Cabinet of Curiosities. I'm really enjoying this series!
Sorry this is so long. It's nice to meet you all!

It's sort of an "alternate history" series about what would have happened if Dracula had not been defeated and had taken over England! It also ties in a who's who of other characters from Victorian horror and it's a bit tongue-in-creek , mixing some humor and insider references in with the horror.
Evenings Horrorlings, I'm Nate, and I'm a fan of everything horror, however I'm not a native anglospeaker and in my native spanish is really hard to find good books to creep you out, hence my constang reading/listening and looking for new authors novels and stories, as well people who love the genre.

I'm also a big fan of Dracula and think Bram Stoker's book a real masterpiece. The Pendergast series was great but from number 13 on it got a bit weaker in my opinion. Great to hear from you. Nice to meet you!

I'm reading The Passage now which is a newer 'vampire' book but they still cause plenty of mayhem which I like!

I've heard that Samanta Schweblin is good, though I haven't read anything by her yet. I'm looking forward to reading this one when the English translation is published:

You can only do so much of something before it starts getting the 'been there, done that' feeling. But, for me anyway, I'll still plug along afraid to miss the next gem. lol

There are just three books so far; the first one is Blood Oath.

Thank you very much Krystal, but don't worry almost all of my reads are in english so I'm here to learn.

The other list seems interesting enough, and I know a couple mates who could put it in good use, thanks a bunch. :)
