Hey everyone, my name is Cayla VanHulle. I'm 27 years old, live in Metro Detroit, Michigan and love all things horror. That was thanks to my mom; she had me watching Salem's Lot, Pet Semetary, The Exorcist, Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th before I entered sixth grade.
I admit that most of my horror consumption has been on screen, and now that I'm frequenting sites like Goodreads and Amazon I'm realizing how ignorant I am to all of the great horror in print. Obviously I've read plenty of King and R.L. Stine as a kid (hey I see that stare, c'mon), a little Koontz, the mainstream stuff.
I'm happy to be here, to begin my journey into horror novels.
Suggestions welcome!
Welcome to HA, Cayla! You'll find a lot of suggestions here. Right now we're taking nominations for the group book reads for May--you might find some good ideas there. :)
Hello! My name is Villimey, a fellow horror fan. I love horror movies and horror books and I joined because I'd love to get to know some new authors and their books :)I just recently watched A Quiet Place (not a book, I know) but I really liked it. Has anyone else seen it?
When it comes to books, I love all kinds of horror; zombie, ghosts, psychological, dystopian, post-apocalypse. Do you have any recommendations or favourites that you would like to share? ;)
Welcome, Villimey! I liked A Quiet Place as well - very cleverly done.I could recommend too many titles but I'd suggest everyone who likes traditional ghost stories reads Michelle Paver's Dark Matter.
Welcome, Villimey! I loved A Quiet Place as well! It was such a great film! John and Emily were fantastic as were the kids!
Hi I'm Melanie, an Australian living in New Zealand.I'm stoked to have found this group because I don't know anyone else who loves to read / watch / listen to horror as much as I do, and I'm looking forward to some interesting conversations and actually talking to (typing to?!) other people about whatever I'm reading.
My local book shops don't carry horror at all except for a couple of token Stephen King mainstream books, so I'm just hoping I can get hold of the discussion books before the read-by date!
Hi, all!! I'm Mike. I read a tom from a ton of different genres, but I've been on a horror kick lately. I saw this group, and it just looks so active and fun, I had to join! Have any of you read any Ken Greenhall? I bought Childgrave last week based on Grady Hendrix's recommendation in Paperbacks From Hell, wondering if anyone here has read it.
Welcome, Mike! I've read Ken Greenhall's Elizabeth, which was excellent, but I've not got around to Childgrave yet.

Yeah, Elizabeth was a possible buy for me, too, but I decided to start with Childgrave 'cause the title alone creeps me out.
Hello and welcome to HA, Mike! From Greenhall I've read
