Horror Aficionados discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi, everyone! I am Ana, and I am relatively new to goodreads, so I was looking for some cool groups to join, and yours was my first choice! I used to adore horror when I was a kid, and then I took a break from it, sort of, but now I have returned to what was my first love :)
I might be a bit clumsy as I am still learning my way around goodreads and I hope I won't make any faux pas. If I do, please do let me know what was wrong, and do not take offence as I have not done it with a malicious intent. Thank you :)
Welcome, Ana! Don't worry, just dive on in. Lot's of great people here and if your looking for horror you have found the right spot :)
Hi everyone,I've been fascinated by Horror and Science Fiction since my childhood, the old movies of Joe d'Amatoe having impressed me a lot, but also, more recently, "I'm a Legend", with Will Smith.
I also loved to read Lovecraft and Stephen King's stories.
I'm an amateur writer, and I hope to release my very first novel, a zombie novel, on May or June 2017.
I'm here for exchanging information with other writers or readers about living dead and other monsters, and I wish to all of you horror amateurs a nice - and horrific! - day.
Roland (aka L. H. Tide)
Hey, all!I'm Bob and I'm a horror NUT! I write the horror movie review blog "Candy-Coated Razor Blades" and I'm also the author of "TROPEFEST!: Attack of the Killer Cliches".
Nice to meetcha!
Stephen wrote: "Welcome Kirsten, a leap into the horror genre sounds great to me :)Sometimes the best horror stories come from authors who write about what scares them. I look forward to hearing more about it!"
Thanks!
I'm currently trying to pick a cover for my novel. It's almost as hard as writing the synopsis! But pleased that I outsourced the design.
Thank you for your warm welcome, Bill, Kimberly, and all the others. It's got the warmth of blood, moahaha!
Jokes being put aside, I'm impressed by your writing pedigree, Bob. I'll go to see your review one of these days. By the way, could you add a link to it so that we can all discover it? (if it doesn't contradict the Community's rules, of course).
Stephen, I understand your problems for finding a cover artist, since I had the same problem.
I've discovered a faire tales artist who, hopefully, will perhaps be OK, but I'm not sure...
If someone knows a good horror one, not too expensive ($50 at the maximum, if possible), I would be interested. I need the cover of my second book of my Zombie series to be made.
I'm writing to you from a Café in the South of France, it's the morning, and I must go now to my day job.
I wish to all of you 'une bonne journée', a nice day,
as we say here.
:-)

Thank you, L.H.!I did just put the link to the blog in the Flogging Your Blog thread (since I was pretty sure that belonged there), but I don't see any rules about posting a link to the actual book so, here goes:
TROPEFEST!: Attack of the Killer Cliches
The Kindle edition is free until Monday, April 10th. Enjoy! (pssssssst! reviews are more than welcome. :) )
Welcome everyone and Bob thanks for the link. I'm always looking for horror movie blogs that review honestly and throw in some humor and don't give everything away and go on for days! Yours fits me great.
Bark's Book Nonsense wrote: "Welcome everyone and Bob thanks for the link. I'm always looking for horror movie blogs that review honestly and don't give everything away (and go on for days!). Yours fits me great."WOOHOO! Now, I guess I need to get back to writing it. There've been a few snags. :D
I'm excited to join this group and to get to know you all. I teach and am a dad to two young kids (which is its own full-time job!), and I've also been working on a novel during the wee candlelit hours. After a long and winding road, this novel, The Garden of Blue Roses, will finally see the light of day in Spring 2018, when it will be published by Underland Press. It's a literary horror in the vein of Shirley Jackson, and I'd be happy to talk about it more, and about the process of getting it published, and to share what I learned about submitting to independent presses. All I can say is: persistence sometimes pays off, but man, it's not easy.
I envy people that can write fiction. The plot bunnies always scatter when I try. That's why I write non-fiction. :D
For all new members who are interested, there is an author promotional thread here on Horror Aficionados:

Thank you for the link, Bob.
I'll soon go abroad during many days, so the kindle version, proposed to download for free, would be the most practical for me.
I've preordered it, when I will be able to download and read it, I'll write a review.
Good evening

I had a problem using the link you sent.
But by using the Kindle app on my smartphone, and searching your book via the search word Tropefest, I was finally able to download it!
Thank you, I began to read it, and I live the History part in the beginning about the Barbie trope!
Thanks to you, I'll have a good book to read while on holiday.
When I will publish my novel via Kindle Select too, I'll inform you about its availability.
Again, I wish you a nice evening, Bob.
I apologize for that. The link I posted was for the paperback version but they are linked. I'm glad you were able to snag it, though. Please enjoy!
Hello everyone!I'm Caro. Somewhat new to Goodreads, I'm happy to see there's a place to discuss horror fiction and films. Horror is my lifelong, number one "guilty pleasure", so it's great to find a group of other horror fans!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, and I look forward to getting to know you all!
Hi everyone! My name is Laura and I'm from Pittsburgh, PA, USA! Oddly enough I can't watch any horror shows or movies as I get exceptionally freaked out and terrified (I was even scared during "Scary Movie", the well, scary movie parody lol), but I LOVE reading horror, it is my absolute favorite genre.
I can't sit through 2 minutes of a horror movie, yet despite reading some amazing and entertaining horror novels and short stories, I can't seem to find books that terrify me lol. I've read 3 books that I've physically had to put down because I got so scared:
1. Summer of Night
2. Pet Semetary
3. The Amityville Horror
I look forward to meeting you all and it's exciting to see that there are so many horror fans! I'm also very excited to you new, aspiring, and upcoming writers-best of luck to you and feel free to scare the daylights out of me! :)
Hi! My name is Megan and I love horror! I've read a lot, but I want to truly be horrified by books! I'm hoping this group can help with that. I'm looking forward to reading some horrifying books with everyone!

Summer of Night is one of my fav books. Made me afraid to turn off the bedroom lights because of what might be under the bed or in the closet!
Welcome to HA!
