Horror Aficionados discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hello! I'm kinda new to the Horror genre - i've read some Lovecraft, and i've also read Hyperion (loved it), and i've read Dairy and Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. I love horror movies - stuff like Paranormal Activity really freaks me out for some reason, psychological horror, and stuff like NBC's Hannibal.
I joined to find new horror books to read, it's so hard to wade through and find good ones! ^_^
Hey everyone,My name is Fernando and I'm a single father of 2. I live horror films and the love for that genre has past down to my daughter (from The Exorcist to Goosebumps to Insidious). Many of my favorite horror books I've actually listened too. Yet not all..below are a few of my all time favorites -
Demon Blood: Enlightenment by Tim Meyer
Demonologist - The Extraordinary careers of Ed & Lorraine Warren.
Origin by J.A. Konrath
Swan Song by Robert McCammon
Wow, so many new members over the the past few days! Welcome everyone, I hope you have fun here and am certain you're find something tempting to read.
Hi! My name is Kyla and I am an aspiring writer of horror, thriller, and dark fiction. I love reading horror so I joined this group to get some recommendations and discuss.
Hello, my name is Tammy. I love reading and watching horror. Im considering on writing a book myself now that im retired. I would also like to get into proof reading manuscripts, and books, also typing them if they are written in long hand.
Hey people,I'm Carmen :) I'm from South Africa. I've been an avid reader since I was little, but especially loved horror, and more so, anything with vampires and dark goth stuff in it. Like the most tender anatomical feasts :P
I read, unfortunately not nearly as much as I used to, and I write, because my head is full of fluff and the fluff needs to go away. I write mostly Dark Gothic Romance and Vampire Politics. I like using vampires as a bounce board to discuss sociological issues.
If you have any good horror books for me to read, please let me know. Especially if vamps are involved.
Welcome, Carmen! If you haven't already, check out Fevre Dream and Live Girls Both very different stylistically, but both very good.
Hi all!I'm Robert from Australia and I've been reading and viewing all things horror since I was 4!!! I got hooked to horror when my elder sister was baby-sitting me and waiting up late for my brother-in-law to come back from night shifts on the shipyards. She initiated me to Creature Feature on late night TV (maybe the older folk here will remember this cool TV show of the 1960s/70s). I saw all the classics and still today, cherish reading Stephen King, Bradbury, Barker, etc. and watching the best (and indie) horror movies. The latest movie I saw was Lake Eerie starring Meredith Majors.
Hi everyone, My name is Sumit. I like reading horror and any book which can and will mess around with my head.
Recently, I realized that it has become harder for me to find a book with a different kind of story. Hopefully, this group can help me with that.
Welcome, Sumit! You will find plenty of rec's here. Prepare for your tbr to explode. Give Sour Candy a try. Short and strange and awesome.

Welcome Robert, Carmen and Sumit. Carmen, I love vampires too but I don't write, just read. Fevre Dream is very good as well as The Last American Vampire. Those 2 were so good I have them in audio and actual book forms.

Hi people,My name is Franciny. I'm a brazilian girl that loves horror stories, in books, movies or music. I've been fascinated by it since the early years of my adolescence. I also have a thing for witches, even dreamed about becoming wicca as a teenager. Hope to find horror fans friends :)
Welcome, Joseph! I think that you will find plenty of horror classics here. Depending on your definition of classics, I guess.
Hello, everyone. I'm Alex! I'm so excited to get to discussing my favorite genre with you all! I always tell me friends that horror is the best to read because it possesses the most profound and cathartic emotional and intellectual reading expereince: due the stressful, dangerous, and sinister situations and setting, the characters are forced to show their true humanity; for they must in order to survive; and it's that bare humanity- the actions and state of mind of the characters- that make this genre so rich! Suggestion I have for everyone is Carly Ann West's "The Bargaining."
:)
Hello to all! New to the Horror Aficionados. Horror is easily my favorite genre to watch, view films and to write. I'm looking forward to great discussions!
