Horror Aficionados discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi, I am a weird/horror fiction fan living in Berlin. I am also a graphic designer, so I love all the classic horror book covers you can find on the toomuchhorrorfiction blog.I just started a horror blog, at thedrownedman.blogspot.de It was supposed to be a horror short story blog, but it got kind of sidetracked. The latest post deals with Westworld! There is also a long running HG Wells/Lovecraft pastiche thing going on... anyway.. my sister pointed me here, so I will have a good look around. Seems like a great community. Schöne Träume
Hello,Carrie was the first film that left a seriously scary impression on me. I was about 9 years old. I read the book in my teens, was fine with that but bad with It. I couldn't look down a plughole for days. Fab!
Glad to be here :)
Hello everyone! My names Badseedgirl, what's yours? I love classic movies (and if you got that reference, so do you!) and horror movies, TV, books, the works. I have no idea why I have not signed up for this group before. I look forward to passionate discussions and suggestions for new (and new to me) horror writers, especially women authors.
My name is Jennifer Lynn and I am a rare creature-- an Anglophone (English speaking resident of Quebec, Canada). When I travel, esp. IN Canada, and say I am from Quebec, people automatically switch to speaking in French or say "Oh so you're FRENCH, then??" Nope- I am a rare breed! That's a bit about me.I am also a high school English teacher, and have taught 'Carrie' in my horror unit with grade 10!
Stephen King is my absolute favorite author, which literary snobs sometimes give me a hard time about- BUT- King was the 1st 'adult' author I ever read, he made me fall in love with the world of adult books, branching out at the age of 10 from my little world of Babysitters Club + Sweet Valley High nonsense. I have been eternally devoted (one of his Constant Readers) ever since- Good ol' 'Uncle Stevie'!
:0)

Welcome Badseedgirl, Jen, and R.D. Stones! There are a lot of group and buddy reads going on now--a great place to discuss what you love--or dislike--about some horror books. We have a great group here. :)
Greetings everyone! I'm Josh Grant, king of the dankest memes in town, wielder of the dank hammer. During the year I teach elementary and middle school kiddos, work with high school kids at church, teach theatre at summer camp, and am an author. I've also had a mild case of misadventure having survived a major flash flood, faced down several bears, and sailed the ocean blue. But like most of you, I absolutely love horror.I'm a huge fan of movies like The Thing, Aliens, and Phantoms. I just love that mystery of "what happened here" and the claustrophobic frantic feel. I also love games like Resident Evil and Until Dawn. Dean Koontz is definitely one of my favorite authors too. If any of those are your speed, hit me up on the friend line.
It's good to meet everyone!

I'm kinda with you there about not being able to watch horror movies (and yet I still do anyway for some reason)

Sadly, I'm more on the Koontz side of things than King, but for much of the same reasons. He made me love the horror genre. Interestingly enough, King used to be a high school English teacher before he broke into writing. Maybe you'll have to try scrawling something sometime! :)

Hey Sumedha! My family is from Germany (none from Berlin though). I'm a visual kind of guy myself and do love my horror. I'll have to check out the blog sometime (but only once I've caught up in Westworld, no spoilers!). Wilkommen meine Freunde!

I know that TV is not cool, but I am currently re-reading AND for the 1st time, LISTENING to the audio of THE EXORCIST at the moment ,
this version here, in beat up, yellowed paperback, and was wondering if anyone knows: Is the TV show of it 'worth it'? Does anyone know? It is my personal favorite for horror FILM, that's for sure, now just checking/re-affirming that teenaged ME thought/knew that the BOOK was 'as worth it' as the film; and NOW there's a TV show on about it- so I should check it out, eh? --Jen from Quebec :0)
