Horror Aficionados discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi! My name is Katie. I'm pretty new to groups and forums with Goodreads (yes, I came from Booktok lol). I've loved horror books my entire life but struggle with films (no jumpscares please). My favorite read of last month from Ania Alborn. The scariest read was The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum.
I'm looking forward to mingling with you all. Would love any horror fantasy recs you might have!
Welcome to HA, Gil. Do you have a favorite subgenre of horror you enjoy most. I love a good (and not so good) zombie fiction. If it is a rotting animated corpse, I'm all in! My favorite zombie fiction is probably The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell. My recommendation for Horror/Action books would be Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry The series is called Joe Ledger Series and you could do worst as far as horror/action goes. The first couple books are zombie fiction but the rest of the series goes all over the horror place.
Welcome to HA Katie. I'm a little gun shy about any fantasy, but I did enjoy Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor. First book in the Akata series. It is a much darker version of Harry Potter. Like if Dumbledore would be totally ok if Harry died while attending school. This one might be horror-lite, but I enjoyed it!
Hey everyone, I'm Jenn! I'm fairly new to the horror genre (outside of Stephen King which I grew up reading). I recently read Hell House as a friend rec. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have been wanted to see what else the horror genre has to offer. I watch a lot of horror with my husband and horror is practically all he reads, so I have half a bookshelf filled with awesome looking horror books that I am excited to read. I've seen a ton of cool looking books since I've joined and am happy to be part of the group! I'll be starting with The Hellbound Heart while I munch my virtual grilled chicken and pesto panini (although probably going to have to make a real one now).

Welcome to all the new members! Perfect timing as we head into the first weekend of February, enjoy :-D
Hello all! This is my first time trying to get involved in a discussion group like this on Goodreads, so it's a little daunting! Anyway, I've been dipping into literary horror off and on for years now. I'm a big fan of classic stuff (Frankenstein, Poe, Lovecraft) creature features like Relic, and cosmic horror/weird fiction. Since last year I've really gotten hooked on modern horror lit and it's rocketed to my new favorite genre. Adam Nevill has quickly become a new favorite -- I devoured No One Gets Out Alive, The Ritual, and Last Days within the past three months. And my horror to-read list is a mile long now. I just started The Reformatory by Tananarive Due yesterday. Excited to keep digging in, find more good spooky fun, and see what everyone else is enjoying.

@Derek: Welcome and very awesome as you came to a wonderful and friendly group. You have great taste in horror and I've heard of Nevill but never got into him but will check him out at some point :-)I love Tananarive Due and need to read her latest novel! Enjoy our group and please grab a virtual hot chocolate to the left as our weekend comes to an end...
Hi everyone! I’m Sherry. A reader, a night owl, and a scaredy cat. A big fan of Sam Holland, Darcy Coates, and S.A. Barnes. I always take on way too many books than I know what to do with.
@Sherry: Welcome and NICE! LoL also a night owl since I feel it's the best time to unwind with tea, music, and reading :-DI love your author choices, especially S.A. Barnes! LoL yeah, also the same here with the neverending TBR. As they say, so many books, such little time!
