Thanks Char. I'm only a third or so through Rage and haven't formed a solid impression yet. It took a different tack than I though it would, with the (view spoiler).

Greetings and salutationsAuthor Simon Crook here, extending a long bony hand to shake with Goodreads' horror community. What an excellent place this is.
If it's not yet on your radar, my horror anthology Silverweed Road is out now, courtesy of HarperVoyager. One cursed street. Ten linked stories. A new horror behind every door.
If were-foxes, demonic jackdaws, predatory swimming pools and mutant cuttlefish rock your bones, you can check it out on my profile page
Thanks for reading... and stay spooky
Simon
Hi, my name is Patrick from Maryland, USA. I'm an avid reader that enjoys reading across the spectrum but typically dwell in SciFi. As a break from that, I started picking up a few horror titles (most recently The Only Good Indians, This Book Is Full of Spiders, and My Best Friend's Exorcism) and had a blast getting back into the genre. I grew up reading Stephen King and watching shlocky horror movies. Felt like the next step was to find a good group and enjoy reading together. When I'm not reading, I'm usually running, fixing something, or breaking the thing that will need to be fixed. That's me, looking forward to reading together!

Greetings,My name is Jacob Parr. I'm an author that likes to write thriller/horror novels. I'm always looking for a good scare or something that goes bump in the night.
Welcome, Pat! Some excellent choices there, I'm a huge fan of Grady Hendrix! You came to the right place, enjoy :-)
I'm relatively new to the horror genre, with respect to short fiction and novels. I've been watching horror movies for many years and during that time occasionally read Stephen King or Dean Koontz, but never took a deep dive into what else written horror offers. This is because I was focused on science fiction.Anyway, several years ago, I decided to look into horror and started with Karl Edward Wagner's "Years Best Horror" books, published by DAW. I made some immediate discoveries - Hugh B. Cave, David Case, Davis Grubb, David G. Rowlands, Alan Peter Ryan, Dennis Etchison, Basil A. Smith and T.E.D. Klein, to name a few.
I want to make special mention to "The Catacomb" by Peter Shilston, found in Wagner's Vol. IX DAW book.
Another discovery was R. Chetwynd-Hayes. I don't recall how I found him, but I want to make special mention to Night Ghouls, one of his short story collections (that I was able to find for a decent price). PS Publishing in the UK has recently brought him back into print, offering some relief from the bloated paperback prices on ebay and abebooks.
It's hard to say who is my favorite new discovery. I really do like them all.
@Bryan: Welcome and very awesome, some nice authors there! That's what I love about groups like this, always able to find some great new authors and novels out there :-)

Welcome, Bryan.
Karl Edward Wagner did like 14 of those Best Of anthologies all though the 80s up to his death in 1994. I’ve got a handful of them and they’re a great way to discover some of The Who’s Who in horror from that era.

Hi all, Danielle here from Texas! Love horror/ spooky books and was needing some good recommendations! Looking forward to finding some awesome staples for my library. Thanks!
@Danielle: Welcome and very awesome! You came to the right place as I found so many new horror authors and novels thanks to this group. Enjoy :-)
Hi all! My name is Chase and I joined in hopes of becoming an avid reader again. I used to constantly have a book in hand wherever I went, but for the past year or two I've struggled to read anything (not helped by my newfound dyslexia diagnosis haha). I love any and all things horror, though mostly movies and short stories. Happy to be here and talk books with everyone. :) I just picked up my first book in a long while (The Grip of It by Jac Jemc) and while I'm only a few chapters in, I am thoroughly enjoying it thus far. I know that haunted house books/stories have been beaten to death over and over but I still love them.
@Chase: Welcome and very cool! So glad you're here and also love horror! Happy reading with The Grip of It as you'll find some virtual hot lattes to the left to enjoy as you read :-)
Greetings from upstate NY! I'm a horror author hoping to make some new horror-loving friends, or fiends, as the case may be.
