Hello everyone! I'm a writer who's looking for some new books to add to my to read list. Also here I am looking for some nice in depth discussion on the horror genre.
I don't know if this is common, but here's my quandary. I have been getting daily emails of discussion threads from the Horror Aficionados page, but have never - until today - been a member. I became a member today for one reason - because Goodreads won't allow me to stop the emails, since it claims I am (was) not a member of the group. I'm hoping that now I can find some way to stop receiving all the emails from this group. Nothing against the group or anyone... just that I never subscribed and am getting emails, and don't want them. Can someone tell me... now that I have joined, will cancelling my membership ensure that I stop receiving emails? Anyone with advice, please email me at ahrichards01@gmail.com. I would be much obliged. This is kind of Kafkaesque, but there it is. :-)
hello , my names chelsea I am 27 and for over a year I have been reading any scarry/horror book I can I got burn out of movies and picked up a book and havent stopped . im looking to make my reading list longer with the help of this group I have already added a few and im really enjoying the group and people in it . I love splatterpunk , exteme horror , and zombie storys

I just checked it myself and doing the following should fix your problem:
Hover over your profile pic, on the top right
Scroll down to settings and click
Click EMAILS along the top
Scroll down to Group Emails
Check your settings for Horror Aficionados and set them as you like. If you leave the group, you should stop receiving emails.
We don't really send that many group emails because we know that can sometimes irritate people. However, we do send them regarding our group reads and group listens.

I'm Rachel from St. Louis, MO. I'm a fan of horror but I often have a hard time moving out of my comfort zone of certain authors. I'm a bit late to read the March books (I've actually read two of them) but I can't wait to see what April has in store!

After being a "struggling" actor in Los Angeles for many years, I returned home to St. Louis and turned to writing. I have had two novels published: I'm No P. I. and A Ghoulish Good Time. I have been a member of Goodreads for some years now, but for the last year, I have been in a rehab house--my MS finally took its toll on my body. I'm back now; I know both physical and mental pain, and I need much laughter to endure it all. Hopefully, my novels do just that--give much laughter. Alan

Hello HA,I am new to Good Reads and am looking forward to getting to know the community. I am a long time fan of horror, and it remains my primary reading genre. Vampires, zombies and especially werewolves are fair game. Life has gotten a bit hectic though so i don't get to read as much as i used to. It doesn't help that i spend large chunks of time talking to a tween every day. Thattends to shift your mental state.
Like many here i also write and am currently working through a series of short stories based on classic fairy tales. I was really surprised one daywhen talking to a coworker that many people are so used to the Disney versions that they don't realize clasic bedtime stories were pretty dark. So that was my inspiration. But that's not exactly appropriate for my little girl so i am also working on a children's book (that is coming several years too late) and a young adult book so that we can have more things to talk about and she can share my work.
So that's me. I look forwardto learning more about the folks here.

I'm a big horror fan, both books and films, and I enjoy reading a wide variety of authors and subgenres (splatter punk, psychological thriller, supernatural etc etc)

Hello! I'm Kristina M. and I'm from Puerto Rico. I'm an English teacher and occasional writer. I read just about everything; usually read science fiction, fantasy, and romance. I have a weird relationship with horror. On one hand I love it, but on the other I get the super creeps and sometimes terrible nightmares. That doesn't stop me from partaking though! I read many horror novels when I was a teen, but as of late I'm just listening to horror podcasts and reading short stories.
I joined to discover new books and authors in the genre-- and to make new friends :)
