Ranking and Promotion

What are some of the ways you as an author have used your sales and/or author ranking for promotion?

This is something entirely new to me.

Tweet it with a picture! Post it to a blog, brag loudly and often!

Random - if you're on good terms with someone on GR who reviewed you're book, see if they'll use the recommend button to tell others who read similar things on their friends list.

It might get them to add as a to read, which their friends might see and take interest in...etc.
