Kimberly (gravy) Welcome Team #3!

Please pick a team captain and if desired, a team name. If you have any questions about the game at any time, please let me know.

Have fun!!

message 4: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 124 comments Hello fellow Bingoers!

I've not got any ideas on a team name - I'm not very creative I'm afraid. Having been team captain the last two rounds I would prefer not do take that role this time.

Otherwise, I'm ready to get started!!

message 5: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 93 comments Hi team Just checking in Would prefer not to be captain either

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments Hi everyone!! Well - that would leave myself or Kimberly for team captain...if Kimberly doesnt want it - I can do it....

any ideas for a team name? 3 is really hard to come up with something especially since there are 4 of us...

3 to Bingo
3 Sleuthing Musketeers
Tres amigos

Ill keep thinking on it....

message 7: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (whatkreads) Lesley, sneaking in to tell you hi back!

message 8: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 93 comments We don't have to have 3 in the team name. Other suggestions:
Bingo bibliophiles
Readaholics anomynous
Women of mystery
The usual suspects

We just need Kimberly to check in and decide on that team name!☺

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments Thanks everyone....

Came up with Bingo Junkies for a name.

message 15: by Lesley (new)

Lesley | 124 comments We are Bingo Junkies!! Been hanging out for this round since the last one finished.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments Me too!!!!

message 17: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (gravy) Hey Junkies!! *giggles*
I'll send Kimberly a PM to let her know the game is about to start.
In the meantime, I let a message in the discussion area I would like input on. It's regarding future rounds.

message 18: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 678 comments Hi y'all! Sorry I didn't notice Kimberly had put up the teams. I'm fine with Sallie as captain and my vote is for either Bingo Junkies or Women of Mystery for our team title. :) Can't wait until tomorrow!

message 19: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (gravy) If your team name is Women of Mystery, does that mean you all get capes?

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments Absolutely - I think we need those like they wore in the 1700s with the big oversized hood they look very mysterious indeed....

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments Ok - is everyone ready to play? We still need a Team Name so what's it going to be? I rather like Women of Mystery -

message 22: by Lesley (last edited Aug 21, 2015 06:10PM) (new)

Lesley | 124 comments Either Bingo Junkies or Women of Mystery is very appropriate for us, so I'm easy whichever way. Getting twitchy waiting for the first theme to be called!!

Hello Kimberly **waving**

message 23: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 93 comments Lets go with Women of Mystery. I love the sound of those capes, maybe a mask as well?

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments Oooooo. Good idea.....I like the mask idea.

message 25: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 678 comments :) I'm leaning towards Women of Mystery. Especially if we get a cape and mask! ;) :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments It looks like "Women of Mystery" has won for Team name~I do believe it is a rather fitting name!!!

I think it qualifies since I would think Egypt is an "exotic location." :) That's why I'm using Crocodile on the Sandbank. :)

And, yeah for Women of Mystery!

Kimberly | 678 comments I've been trying to figure out what to use for my free space book. Too many to choose from! :) ;) But, I've finally decided on If Mashed Potatoes Could Dance by Paige Shelton (this month's featured author). I had to ILL it, so it'll be a few more days until i can start it. But, we still have time for our free space book. :)

Crocodile on the Sandbank Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody #1) by Elizabeth Peters by Elizabeth Peters

This is the first book in the Amelia Peabody mysteries. After Amelia's father passes away, this independent "spinster" decides to persue her dream of traveling...to Egypt. After her first companion falls ill, fate throws a young lady (with her own sad story) who needs help in her path. As the two travel up the Nile, exploring Egypt, they meet two brothers on an archeological dig. A mummy is found and promptly disappears. Then, it reappears, apparently alive! Amelia must use her wits to help solve the mystery of this mummy.

I really liked this book! :) It had a lot of humor and the mystery was good. I really liked both Amelia and Evelyn, as well as Radcliff and Walter. The conversations between Amelia and Radcliff (or Peabody and Emerson as they called each other) got me really laughing. :) I had the mystery semi figured out early on. I knew who the mummy was and sort of what they were after, but didn't realize there was more than one person involved until the MC's realized it. I will definitely try to read more in this series! :)

Review:
Chorus Lines, Caviar, and Corpses by Mary McHugh by Mary McHugh

The first book in The Happy Hoofers series where five 50-something friends post a video on YouTube showcasing their tap dancing skills, and are invited to dance on a Russian river cruise.

This book has everything in it - humour, entertainment, travelogue, recipes, travel tips, missing persons, and of course a murder. Different from most cozies in that the police do most of the investigation rather than the amateur sleuth/s.

I enjoyed it and see the series improving as you get to know the characters more.

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 130 comments Hi team!! Sorry I'm a bit late, but I totally missed the sign-ups somehow.

I'll be reading Huckleberry Finished for the travel theme and will pick it up at the library this weekend.

I can download Crocodile on the Sandbank from my library online right now, so I'll read that instead!

Yay for Bingo!

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments Hi Rebecca!!! Welcome to Women of Mystery...Glad you could join us....

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 162 comments I finished my Travel book~The Mummy Case
08.28.2015 4*s

I've got to say that Peabody & Emmerson were absolutely ball of fun & the introduction of Ramses is a wonderful addition. I picture The Mummy movie w/Brendan Fraiser when I read these books they are such fun. Peabody & Emmerson - the relationship - seemed quirky at first but by this book they are just perfect together. I love them. Loved Ramses, you could just picture all sorts of mischief.
This one did not disappoint - it was a little hard to figure out the murder plot but I can say that I had it half right. Ms Peters writes in a way that captures the surroundings of Egypt - you feel like you are there with all of the creepy crawly things & sand oh my gosh the sand lol. Egypt is a place I would love to visit someday but for now I will settle for a trip in my mind with Ms Peters as my tour guide.

Rating:5 stars

Pasta Imperfect by Maddy Hunter is the 3rd book in A Passport to Peril mystery series. Tour escort, Emily Andrews, is escorting her Iowan travel group to Italy where they have joined a group of romance writers. Unfortunately ahe needs to deal with several disasters and accidents as well as multiple deaths. A funny and entertaining book. I loved meeting up with all the quirky characters, especially nanna and Emily's ex transgender husband, Jackie. We also meet Emily's mother who has joined the tour. Emily's tours are never dull and I look forward to their next trip.
