City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5) by Cassandra Clare

Book Summary:
What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?

Rida Sajid | 195 comments I liked it better than the 4th one. The author should've combined it with the 5th one as they had very little story in them

Janina (sylarana) | 692 comments I remember feeling the same .. I was very disappointed with the fourth and couldn't even bring myself to start with the fifth, but once I did, I was pleasantly surprised. I guess having low expectations makes it easier to see a book as positive.

Rida Sajid | 195 comments Agreed. I love the third book and was expecting too much from the 4th one but it was slow with weak story line and unnecessary details that I mostly skipped. That's why I didn't like it much but the 5th one was better.

I've finally started this ...... I've been totally dragging my feet because of my disappointment with book 4. Let's hope that I agree with the rest of you that book 5 is an improvement.

Ugh!

I'm pretty much in the same position as the previous book. I enjoy reading about the world and the characters but the annoyance over the stupid things that the characters do .... and the continuing they-can't-really-be-together theme is just tiresome.

Ugh!
