Patricia Harreld | 10 comments My publisher changed my cover on the ebook edition only because the print book will no longer be for sale and I wanted a more attractive cover. The new ebook cover is on Amazon IBSN 13-978-1-61935-403-6. I uploaded the new edition, thinking the cover would show, too, but the new cover didn't upload and now it shows just a blank cover. How can I upload the new cover?

Liz Yanes (lizilena) | 265 comments Can you provide a link to your book's Amazon page?
I couldn't find it by the ISBN 13.

Patricia Harreld | 10 comments Is there any way to keep that cover front and center? I tell it to use the new edition, but every time I go back in, it has reverted to the old edition (which, as you can agree, is far inferior to the new one.) I'm only concerned because the cover is the first thing a reader sees that gets them to go on to the blurb--or not.

Liz Yanes (lizilena) | 265 comments That can only be done by authors who are members of the Goodreads Author Program.
See about the Program here:

Cherrie Mack (cherriemack) Hi. I have a few books on GR's that were listed when I was with a publisher. I have since received my rights back and I'm in the process of recovering and retitling these books. The first one comes out next month. How can I handle this? I'd like the new cover and title to show as well, as it will be posted on netgalley. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Liz Yanes (lizilena) | 265 comments #8 It is Goodreads policy to never remove any existing editions. The retitled books should be added separatedly and then combined to their previous editions. Once that's done, as the Author you will be able to choose the new editions as the primary edition.

message 10: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Harreld | 10 comments As suggested, I became a member of the author program, but I still can't understand how to combine the old covers so I can choose the new one as the primary. They have NOT been retitled. There is just a new cover on the ebook version only. You added it for me, but it still defaults to the old print version, which is no longer available. How can I get the proper cover front and center? You downloaded the cover I want from with no problem. I became a member of the authors program. Now, the only thing left is to make the above cover the one potential readers see. Help! LOL

Liz Yanes (lizilena) | 265 comments #10 Simply follow these instructions:

message 12: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Harreld | 10 comments It says this and I can do step 1, but when I do Step 2, it goes to a Metadata page. Step 3 appears nowhere. When I click on the cover I want to show it says "Switch to this edition" When I click that, it does go where it should be, however, it won't stay because there is nowhere I can find that says to set it as my PRIMARY edition:

Help Topic

How do I set the default edition for a work?
1) Navigate to the book's page. Be sure you have selected the edition you wish to become the default (primary) edition.

2) Click "edit details" below the book's description.

3) On the right side of the page, click "Set this book as the primary edition for this work". It's about midway down the page.

Liz Yanes (lizilena) | 265 comments #12 I think the problem is that you don't have the GR Author status yet. It takes a few days for the request to be processed after you apply to join.

I should have checked your profile before telling you to follow the instructions.
My mistake, apologies.

Patricia Harreld | 10 comments Oh, thank goodness. I thought I was going crazy. All I saw was that I was a member. Maybe you should say "Pending Member" to avoid confusion. How will I know when everything is done?

Liz Yanes (lizilena) | 265 comments According to this: , you will receive email confirmation when your user account has been successfully upgraded to an author account.

Patricia - is this you? are all the books on this GR Author profile yours?

You are posting your messages from a user account, which would lead me to believe that

1) Not all the books on the GR Author account are yours, and there for you are not the author assigned to the programme

2) You have used a different email address to the user and GR Author account and you need to log in to the GR Author account using the email associated with that account not hte user account.

When claiming a author profile, the user profile is merged with the author one which does not appear to have happened with you

Patricia Harreld | 10 comments Here is my link

Yes, ALL the 4 books are mine and you will note it shows me as a Goodreads Author. I just applied to be a Goodreads Author under the email address I am using. As you can see by the thread, it hasn't gone through. It's the same address I used to sign up for a user account. I got on as a user with this address, so it has to be the right one or I wouldn't have been able to log on, then applied for an Author account using this address. I don't know what else to do.

Patricia Harreld | 10 comments Could the problem be that the books were uploaded by my publisher instead of me, so I can't change anything?

message 19: by Arenda (last edited Aug 19, 2015 12:04PM) (new)

Arenda | 19985 comments It looks like you have a separate user profile and a separate author profile:
You'll need to contact GR support and ask to get them merged.
