You're right, combining existing editions is something only librarians can do. But if you know that another edition of the book you want to add is already in the database, instead of adding a new book you can click 'add a new edition' underneath the description of the existing edition. Then it is combined straightaway, no librarian needed.
yes, lethe has combined them. Nuno, you are not a librarian and have no access to the combine page, that why you are not seeing any boxes to check.
She has also added a cover, and yes, we wouldn't just use google for covers, so good decision there. This is what we can use: https://www.goodreads.com/librarian_m...

Reverted the image deletion, as it apparently was Nuno's own scan (see https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... )
Thank you lethe.For me it is really hard to keep track of forum posts. I had to do a search, just to know what happened with my recent request. That was the reason for the absence of response from me originally. I see the "Add to my update Feed" option down there, but something is wrong sometimes apparently. And there is no options to simply see my posts. Or if there is, I can't find it. Thank you so much for helping me.
edit: followed the tip by a user of using my user name in the search box and my forum posts show up! that's wonderful! Now I know how to keep up.

If you click on 'edit profile', you'll see a tab 'emails'. Scrolling down to the bottom of the page, you can specify to be notified by email or notification only (the g at the top of every page next to your user icon) whenever someone responds to a thread you started or commented on. Much easier to keep track of discussions that way :)

The translation is a book I own, that I purchased in a used books store, and I've added it. There are a few images (two at least) of the original book, that show up in google images, but I am very unconfortable with using unauthorized images. So that is why I did not complete the original book info that was already in Goodreads, by adding a cover.
Before coming here with this request, I did find a post explaing in full detail how to combine editions, and to my frustration it was impossible to "Check the box next to the titles that need to be combined" because there were no boxes. And I tried 3 different browsers and turned off add blocker.
Eventually I imagined this was something only librarians could do. If that is the case, please do me this favor. If it's not, I will gladly do it myself, if someone explains to me what I'm missing.
