Interpersonal relationships and the importance of honesty (even when one is a half-angel who thinks he knows everything) are more important than the fantasy (angel, time-travel, telepathy) aspects.
Humor and romance are also pretty important.
Finally, it's hard to have a self-important angel without Biblical references, so, yeah, there are Biblical references.
Please let me know; I've edited and edited and am about to go blind. I'd love to get to writing the third book, but I can't until I know that these have an agent (I've got a couple in mind, but would like a final go-ahead).
Also, if anyone's interested / willing - I'd love someone to beta the QL. They are posted on Agent Query Connect, but I can't seem to get any feedback.
One relates to the establishment of the half-angel who runs a training facility of angels and humans preparing for Armageddon. The half-angel's (demi-angel's) name is Arwein Angyliadd (Welsh for Angelic Leader). Arwein had a son in 1483 just as he was being "Raised" to Arwein, and he was made to place his son in hiding. Now it is 1983, and his son, Daniel, is 11, and showing signs of telepathic talent. Daniel must come to Arwein's institution (Castle Corwyn) for training. But although Arwein has tried to keep Daniel's identity secret, the evil demi-angel who is Arwein's opposite has discovered Arwein's secret. In multiple assignments, Daniel comes nearer and nearer death, and yet Arwein continues doggedly keeping silent. The story is as much about between the relationship and power dynamic between Arwein and Daniel as it is about cool angel battles and telepathy, etc.
The other book has Daniel a full fledged member of the Legion. It takes place in two different time settings. When we first see him, he is with his ten year old daughter, bringing her to Corwyn with him. The story is about who she is and the struggles surrounding her existence. She was born as the result of a romance between Daniel and Queen Elizabeth I during his first full fledged assignment to Tudor England. Now, not only Daniel, but his daughter, are threatened.
The second book was written first and was meant to be published first, with the first as a prequel (if you understand that); now, that's up for debate.
Thanks very much.
