Well based on the description I feel there is a strong likelihood it could lead to a few tears. Had a bit of a cry with both the Lovely Bones and the Defendants and they are both mentioned.

From the description:
With the intensity of The Lovely Bones, the balance of wit and heartbreak of The Descendants, and the emotional acuity of Anne Tyler’s work, The Daylight Marriage is at its heart a novel about what happens when our intuitions override our logic, with a page-turning plot that doesn’t reveal its secrets until the very end

Samantha | 122 comments I found this book to be good but not great and it really didn't stir up a lot of emotion. I did tear up at one point and at least two tears came out so suppose that fits the definition of a cry even if it was meager. It was super short so perhaps could have used more development, the idea was a good one and there was a decent mystery but don't feel like the characters ever grew on me or had a lot of substance.
