( T )he fanciest store in all of Aster. Lace N Works sells a variety of expensive clothing, shoes, jewelry, makeup, and perfume. A wealthy woman's dream.

Thea walked into Lace N Works, looking to buy a new dress. She wanted to wear something nice to her classes for once, something that wasn't an old shirt or torn jeans. But Thea had never come to Lace N Works before, not in all her 4 years on Aster. She hoped it wasn't too fancy. But she did hear that some of the products here were rather expensive. As Thea looked around, her eyes widened. These dresses were so pretty. But her heart sank as she read the price tags on some of them.

Rosie walked into the store and gasped at the sight of this beautiful, blue dress. Her eyes widened, like Thea's. She needed this dress. She absoloutely needed it. Her life depended on getting it, at least to her. Without thinking of prices, she snapped the dress off the shelf. Then the price tag was facing up towards her. Her mouth dropped, very dramatically. Hundreds of dollars for one dress.

Thea couldn't help but notice Rosie's expression. "I think everything here is priced similarly." she said with an apologetic smile. Thea held up the price tag on a dark pink dress she'd been considering. $720. In Thea's opinion, that was way too much for a dress. She should've kept shopping elsewhere. This place was...overpriced.

Rosie read the price on the dress Thea held up for her. "I don't think anyone on this island is even that rich. I'm not kidding!" Then she remembered how she wanted to be thought of as flawless. "Except for me, of course. I'm, like, a bazillionaire."

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

"Oh." Thea said. She didn't believe Rosie when she said that she was a bazillionaire. But she played along. "You were born here?" Thea figured that only kids with parents on the island would be rich. Thea didn't have parents. Not on the island, at least.

"Um, no. I appeared out of nowhere on this freaking raft," Rosie said. She made it sound like she hated it, but it didn't really bother her. Maybe before, she wished that she'd disappear in a bad past, and this would be her dream.

"Oh." Thea said. "Well, so did I! What house are you in at the Academy?" Thea was sure that Rosie must be a student at the academy, since she didn't look older than 18. But then again, Thea would feel really silly if she was wrong.

"Nightfall. They pretty much just pushed me into the Nightfall dorm, because they said I didn't match any of the houses," Rosie said. "But I'm decent with magic, I guess," she said. She guessed? Rosie caught herself saying things that made her seem non perfect. "I mean, I'm totes perf with maj," she shook her head. Then she smiled. "So what's your name? I'm Roselyn, but most people call me Rosie. Sometimes Rose."

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Thea nodded and smiled. "I'm Thea, Sunrise house. Nice to meet you! I can hardly do any magic." she said. Thea wondered if Rosie had some kind of darker side, since she was in Nightfall.

ella
"OMG, cool name!" Rosie said. Even though the name Thea was boring to her. But Thea seemed nice, like a friend. But Rosie wanted more of a perfect friend. Just not as perfect as her. "I like names and stuff, um yeah, and I remember that Thea means godly. I'm a total name geek, haha!"

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

"Really?" Thea grinned. "Wow, cool! I don't think I'm all that godly though, just my normal hard working me! So, what's your favorite book?" She figured that was a good question to ask.

message 13: by ella (new)

ella ((would there be YA/middle grade/whatever else books on Aster? Because shipping in another 'world'...))

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

((I guess so...maybe the books appeared with the library? Part of the island, like the school?))

message 15: by ella (new)

ella ((Yeah, I'll just pick a random book))

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

((K.))

"Um... I don't read like crazy... Mysterious Benedict Society, I think," Rosie said. She didn't even remember what it was about, but she remembered loving it when she was a bit younger. What even was the main character's name? She had forgotten. Ariana, she believed.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

"I've never heard of that one! Is it good?" Thea asked. "My favorite book is..." she hesitated for a moment. She'd been so busy with homework, and classes, and trying not to think about her life that she hadn't had that much time to read.

message 19: by ella (new)

ella
Rosie waited for her to finish her sentence. She was lucky, because she had no answer for her. Hopefully Thea wouldn't ask for what it's about, because Rosie would have absolutely no answer for that, either. She didn't want to have to lie, because Thea would most likely eventually find out and then know she lied.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Thea blinked a few times, trying to think of her favorite book. "Well I don't really have one, I guess!" she said, trying to laugh about it. "I've mostly been busy with homework, and extra credit, and all that normal stuff, I guess I just never really though about it."

"Hm, okay," Rosie shrugged. She suddenly realized that she should've told Thea how 'seriously' flawless she was. "You know I'm perfect, right?" she asked, even though it sounded extremely strange. Not to her, though. It sounded perfectly flawless to her. She says that... a lot.
