Lisa K Let's start discussion here on September 10!

Kimberly Hurns I would love to join. I am looking forward to chatting with the group!

Lisa K "Why did people ask 'What is it about?' as if a novel had to be about only one thing. Ifemelu disliked the question." (p. 191)

Do YOU like the question, in general, "What's that book about?"? How did you answer it in the days/weeks that you read Americanah?

Nyasha My book club just read the book and we ares till yet to discuss it. I did suggest the book because i thought it honestly told my story as an immigrant. And yes, i did get the question on what the book is about and my typical answer was, The story of Immigration, Hair, Love, Race etc through the life of a very intelligent black non-american woman :)

A.D. Koboah I liked the question and the answer for me is that it's about the Nigerian immigrant experience in America.
