Brakedrum | 1203 comments The Last Bookaneer
by Matthew Pearl
London, 1890
A bookaneer is a thief of manuscripts. At that time there were no copyright laws, so , a bookaneer would steal a manuscript from a well-known author in one country and sell the contents to another publisher in another country.
A good read and very interesting.

A Fool and His Honey
by Charlaine Harris
( An Aurora Teagarden Mystery)
Another in the series of this cozy mystery.
Fair read, relaxing.

Last Scene Alive
by Charlaine Harris
A TV movie is being filmed in Roe's City and the lead actress is found murdered.
Another in the cozy series.

Poppy Done to Death
by Charlaine Harris
The final book that was available at my library.

World Gone By
by Dennis Lehane
A good read, one of the best from Lehane. Couldn't put it down, possibly the best read of the year.

Go Set a Watchman
by Harper Lee
Didn't hold up against To Kill a Mockingbird.
For "Scout" being on her own in New York, I really thought she was really immature on her return home.

Ann (annrumsey) | 14407 comments Very nice list, Lorraine!
The Matthew Pearl book looks interesting. I enjoyed another book of his and will seek out The Last Bookaneer.
Your comment on the (lack of) maturity of twenty-six year old Jean Louise who lives on her own in NYC, compared to a much younger Scout who in TKAM seems precocious and perhaps more mature than her years is a valid point.
It is almost like a shift occurred as she crossed into Alabama on the train.
