Picture book- homeless cat finds homeless man in woods

A homeless cat gets lost in the woods or runs away and a homeless man with a beard adopts it. The illustrations were really wierd, most of the book takes place in the snowy woods.

The Christmas Cat ? Here is a description from Kirkus:

First, a homeless cat seeks shelter in the forest. Next two little boys make Christmas cookies and light their creche in a small farmhouse at the edge of the forest. Back in the woods a bearded, long-haired man arrives by sled with food for all the wild animals (who have followed the sound of his bells) and, seeing the cat, (view spoiler)[takes it along to a promised home. At the farmhouse then on Christmas morning are two delighted little boys and a cat who, glancing at the creche, "seem(s) to hear" sleigh bells. (hide spoiler)]

The Cats of Tiffany Street ? It's about a bunch of cats who get taken away, but one in particular that stays with the cat-napper.

the illustrations were like charcoal drawing with a small amount of color, i read this somewhere between 2000-2006

Clare Turlay Newberry has some books on cats and her illustrations are charcoal with a small amount of color, but I would not describe them as weird.
