Apologies, would have gotten this open sooner but got tied up with work and things. September we'll be back to a normal month after August's theme.

Normal rules apply please:
- One nomination per person, sci-fi OR fantasy
- There are eight spots for each genre - first come, first serve. The polls will open once all spots are filled.
- Nothing that was nominated last month
- If it is part of a series make sure we have read the previous ones as a group first.
- No self promotion by authors

SCI-FI:
1.My Name is Legion by Roger Zelazny (nominated by Mila Elizabeth)
2.Retribution Falls by Chris Wooding (nominated by Lancer)
3.Red Rising by Pierce Brown (nominated by Tom)
4.Footfall by Larry Niven (nominated by Trevor)
5.Sandkings by George R.R. Martin (nominated by Ryan)
6.The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor by Robert Kirkman (nominated by Kristofer)
7.Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis (nominated by (a different) Mary)
8.1632 by Eric Flint (nominated by Christopher)

SCI-FI NOMINATIONS FULL

FANTASY:
1. The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett (nominated by Paul)
2.The Magicians by Lev Grossman (nominated by Roger)
3.Dreamer's Pool by Juliet Marillier (nominated by Christina)
4.Lion of Senet by Jennifer Fallon (nominated by Proxyfish)
5.Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey (nominated by Shawnie)
6.Storm Front by Jim Butcher (nominated by Sam)
7.Prospero Lost by L. Jagi Lamplighter (nominated by Mary)

FANTASY NOMINATIONS FULL

Looking forward to your nominations!

As we have the last Terry Pratchett Discworld book out this month I'd like to nominate the first in its sequence, The Wee Free Men

Me too, I have the Waterstones special edition slipcase preordered ( not the gold one because 120 pound for a book is taking the mick).
Hopefully a nice signing off for Sir Terry

Wish I liked his writing, I can't get past a few pages in his book without putting it down.

Some people just can't take to his style at all. One of my favourites though :-)

Tom Red Rising and Golden Son have been my two favourite sci fi books in ages, possibly ever.

message 16: by Tom (new)

Tom | 216 comments I loved red rising, can't wait for golden son just waiting for the price to go down begrudge paying £11 for a kindle book

Trevor, you can only nominate one book a month.

Very nice selection so far everyone! That Grr Martin one looks intriguing Ryan and there are a lot of other titles there that I haven't heard of before.

message 26: by Shawnie (new)

Shawnie | 1680 comments Sandman Slim for Fantasy

message 28: by Lel (last edited Aug 08, 2015 09:48AM) (new)

Lel (lelspear) | 1768 comments Can I nominate rustication by Charles Palliser for fantasy. Will post a link when I get home.
Rustication ta da!

message 29: by Matías (new)

Matías | 41 comments I second Red Rising. I'm really intrigued to see if it's as good as people say. Regarding fantasy, The Vagrant intrigues me, but The Magicians sounds like a good option.

message 30: by Efrat (new)

Efrat | 90 comments I want to read Ready Player One.

message 31: by Kristofer (new)

Kristofer Hanson (kristofermhanson) | 73 comments Got your message Freya. I would suggest something but I am about to start writing the second book in my trilogy, so will not have time to read.

I would recommend Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga The Walking Dead Collection: Rise of the Governor, The Road to Woodbury, The fall of the Governor, Part I, The Fall of the Governor, Part II, Just Another Day at the Office with the firstr book being my recommendation, unless it has already been nominated before. One of my favorite series and it is really interesting to see the outbreak from the beginning and how that man became The Governor.

Lel Rustification looks intense... :)

message 34: by Andrew (new)

Andrew I never read any C.S. Lewis outside of Narnia--intrigued by Out of the Silent Planet.

I've been dying to read Ready Player One and Red Rising for a while! Grr...

And Retribution falls is falling into sci-fi! That makes sense, but this is surprisingly the hardest sci-fi pick for me yet! I'm usually more concerned over fantasy LOL

message 35: by Lel (new)

Lel (lelspear) | 1768 comments Lancer: I saw it the other day in a book shop and know that it will take me ages to get round to it if I didn't nominate it. Might not be for everyone though.

message 36: by Tom (new)

Tom | 216 comments efrat ready player ones already been botm

message 37: by Freya, Dragon Rider (new)

Freya (flamecat) | 1780 comments Mod
Hi Efrat, as Tom says, we have had Ready Player One as a BotM before so you'd need to pick something else.

Kristopher, the Walking Dead Collection is a boxset rather than an omnibus collected into one volume, so I would split that out and pick the first book.

message 38: by Christopher (new)

Christopher | 74 comments I would nominate 1632 for Sci - Fi! :D
