ɪɴғᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ
ɢᴇɴʀᴇ: crime, mystery, thriller (ish), romance (limited)
ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀs: mother, father, son (17), daughter (15)
ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ: if you'd rather the parents were father&father or mother&mother, that's fine! It's the only romance we'll be getting, so you pick. Also, the four characters up there would be our major characters, but we could also take on side roles if absolutely necessary.

ʟᴏɴᴅᴏɴ ; ʀᴇsᴇɴᴛ ᴀʏ
( t ) hey look like a normal family. He's a detective inspector, she's a forensic, both of them work at Scotland Yard. It was an office romance, really. The years went by quickly after they'd met; he proposed to her at a fancy restaurant, they got married. But having a job you love with a partner you love comes with a price. Crime rates are high all over London city; homicides, killings, missing people, linked suicides. Nothing they haven't dealt with before, but Scotland Yard keeps them up on their feet the entire time. One case is solved, then another body is found. The medical autopsy comes back, suspects are pinned down, the killers are brought to justice, the victim is buried with roses.

( a ) nother few months pass, and they find themselves with a healthy child. It's a boy, and he's the light of their lives. A few more years pass and they have a girl, this time. They're a perfectly normal family. Whilst the tables are turned over and over and over again within the apartment they live in, everything outside stays the same. The Victorian architecture of the city stays, the crime stays, the funeral organisers keep their jobs, the money rolls in easy.

( o ) ne day, everything changes. Their son is now seventeen, their daughter fifteen, but they quarrel all the same, they still fight, they still occasionally share a laugh. It doesn't last. A murderous psychopath returns, and from the heart of London city, he begins his dirty work once more. He should be dead, he must be dead, although he was never found. His victims date back to the late 1800s, he cannot be alive. A psychopath is following his footsteps. A young woman, twenty years old, is found on the streets, her bowels spilling in a mass of red, the liver gone, the heart gone. Puncture wounds from a knife are seen on the body. The murder is brutal, messy, deliberate. It stands out as a trophy the same way kings would spit heads on spikes. A week later, a teenager follows. Two hundred years ago, they never found the man who terrorised the streets of London, evasive, skilled, and bloodthirsty. Now that he's reappeared, there's nothing anyone can do to keep themselves completely safe.

( i ) n this century, they've got a new serial killer, a new psychopath. Jack the Ripper, he was once called, Jack the Ripper, the newspapers say today. Desperate to keep their children safe, the detective inspector and the forensic work restlessly at this case; and the family finds themselves trapped within a criminal web; and Jack knows how every single one of those threads dances.

[ w ] hat really relaxes thirty-eight year old Thomas is a good family game of Monopoly and some hot tea in front of the fire before bedtime. Unfortunately, his life spares little time for a decent board game of any kind. London teems with crime, and it is his job as Detective Inspector to help watch over and protect the city. He’s a patient man, tries his best to be a good father, but sometimes loses his temper. There are sometimes just little things that simply set him off. He loves his children and his wife very much, but whenever they get into fights, it’s an absolute nightmare, and usually ends with him yelling at them to shut up, followed by some sort of threat that is equally appliccable to both of them. Tom loves his job and works hard, but it ages him and wears him out, stretches him out thin sometimes. Every time he crosses cases, his thoughts flicker back to the kids, wether they’re at home or at school or wherever else, and it’s partially his job that leads him to being very protective over his children.

[ v ] ictoria Valentine isn’t what most people would call a… pleasant person. Veiled in stoicism and quite pessimistic, Tori has an undying hate for idiocy. Unlike her father, she’s not patient with people, she’s not, overall, good with people. She’s tried so hard so many times and was reprimanded and bullied so many times at school for it all that it’s broken the little kid that wore bee-themed dresses as a child and had rendered her to what she is today; cold, tactical, logical, and, above all, intelligent. Victoria has an impressive eye for detail, and has possibly the highest IQ in the family, well above the average. Her passions include english, writing, chemistry, biology and classical dance. Victoria hates sport, but when he parents made her do a sport to keep fit, she chose ballet, and has grown to love it. Victoria wants to work in crime, like the parents, but holds a silent grudge against them for refusing to let her go and investigate or do forensics with her father or mother. She can be unbelievably rude if she wants to, and getting into trouble is not unusual for her. She is both aromatic and asexual, but is afraid of coming out to anyone.

He's also very sarcastic and rude at times doesn't really have a filter either. Acts on impulse a lot of the time too.

☽❣≾KraFish≿❣☾ | 3769 comments Yeah that sounds great, and thanks. Really like yours as well, they're great. Also could you start it of?

sᴀʀᴀʜ | 1854 comments It had rained today again, and it was raining now. The soft pitter-patter of droplets against the window panes in the living room should have been enough to console the thrumming nerves of detective inspector Thomas Valentine, but he doubted he'd be able to sleep straight tonight. The DI twirled a forkful of pasta around on his plate before popping it into his mouth, chewing on it for a long time before swallowing. He scratched the side of his facial hair in a subconscious action, and then proceeded to make an attempt as socialising with their family during dinner. Today had been a long day at the office. It had started off with him receiving a call to go and investigate a death; it turned out to be a suicide victim, a boy of eighteen, that had reminded him so much of Jared that it had rendered him to an emotional inner mess for the rest of the day and the evening. It was always difficult when cases involved teenagers. He drew in a breath. "So, um- how was school today, kids?"

Victoria had been idly picking at her food, occasionally eating some, but for the most part, she was playing with it to kill time. She sipped on her water and stayed quiet, eyes downcast as she thought about other things. At her father's enquiry, she rolled her eyes, and didn't answer, as per usual. But although she was quiet, she saw things other people didn't. She noticed how he father's eyes kept flickering back and forth to Jared, to his wrists and then to his mouth, before anxiously skittering away to rest on his food again. As far as she was concerned, Jared wasn't depressed, but that could only mean that something had happened today, a crime, a death, a homicide, perhaps.

☽❣≾KraFish≿❣☾ | 3769 comments Sandra watched her husband silently as she ate. She'd seen the same body as him, since she was the one who classified it as suicide, being the forensic coroner and all. She drew the same connection as him but she didn't bring it home with her, well at least she tried not to. She knew very well that Jared would never do anything like that. When Thomas spoke she forced herself to look away and started eating again and paid attention to her children speak, well her child. Victoria never really spoke at the dinner table, which sometimes worried her but she never spoke about it. She tried not to put much thought into it.

Jared looked up at his dad when he spoke and smiled. He didn't exactly like quality time with his family or anything close to it, but he was happy to talk about his day this time. "It was good" he said and meant it completely. "I was voted Captain of the football team" he said. He's played soccer since he was a little kid, so the fact that he finally got voted to be captain was amazing. He's always been a good player, but they usually have upper class-men as the captain. Talking about the sport reminded him of something he was suppose to ask his parents. He figured they'd say no since they were usually needlessly protective but he still wanted to ask. " and uh Drew is throwing a party after tomorrow nights game, can I go?" he asked, "And before you ask, yes his parents know, but no they won't be there" he said, going with the honest answer. They always found out when he lied, can't get anything by a father whose a detective. Which was the same reason he figured they were so protective, seen everything that can possible go wrong.

Sandra thought a moment before looking back up at Thomas. She took a drink of her water washing down her food before smiling. "I think we should let him go" she said though she wasn't sure her husband would agree.

sᴀʀᴀʜ | 1854 comments Thomas hadn't really been expecting his daughter to say anything in response to his questions; at dinner, the most she said was a snarky comment towards Jared that would a) start a fight, b) get her in trouble, or c) be ignored. Thomas often wondered where the little, bubbly girl that had been Tori as a child had gone, but perhaps it was just the hormones, the adolescence, and she'd mature and get over it. What troubled him, sometimes, though, was that Victoria was far more mature that she ought to be. She knew things most people didn't, knew how to smartly phrase things, knew how to read a person like a book, and whenever she wrote a formal paper, you could read it and think a well-educated 30-year-old wrote it. Tom was just afraid she was getting ahead of things and herself too quickly, and that it was impacting her behaviour, and all sorts of other things. He wasn't equipped to judge that, however. He was a bloody detective inspector, not a doctor or psychiatrist, for god's sakes.

As Jared spoke up, however, he smiled broadly. "Oh, well done, Jared! We're so proud of you." Underneath the table, he sought out Sandra's hand, before giving it a light squeeze and a smile towards her of his own. "Yes, we should let him go. You're allowed to go, provided you give us the details, address and times included. And we'll have to set a curfew for you too, I'm afraid."

The whole entire 'we're proud' smoochiness brought a scowl in from Tori, but she had, as expected, a comment to make. Glancing at the ring Jared always wore, she arched a dark brow over at her older brother, surprise on her face. But it wasn't positive surprise, it was the type of look that said 'how the hell could they make such a stupid decision?'. Tori's mouth quirked up slightly around the edges, and she kept her blue eyes fixed on Jared. "What, did you make out with the guy who was actually elected team captain, and in the end he was so flustered that he handed the role over to you, along with an engagement ring?" She asked him smarmily, for the sake of winding him up, just a little. It was the fun with having siblings, it was like an endless thing to poke at, whilst being careful.

☽❣≾KraFish≿❣☾ | 3769 comments Jared nodded slightly and smiled, glad that he could go, but annoyed that they always had to be so thorough. He sighed softly when Tori opened her mouth and his smiled quickly faded to a scowl. She always had to ruin everything, didn't matter if it was something important to him or not. He turned his head and looked at her, "Nah, just had Karen do it for me" he said, Karen would be the girl he's been dating, pretty seriously, for the last four years. He rolled his eyes and pushed out from the table and stood up, "Cause god knows I couldn't have earn the position myself" he snapped angrily before grabbing his plate and walking into the kitchen. He'd usually do the back and forth with her but he really wasn't in the mood and he had better things to do. He rinsed off his plate and placed it in the sink before walking back out to the dinning room. "Going out with Karen" he said and walked out again before anything else could be said. He hurried upstairs and into his bedroom to grab his keys and wallet.

Sandra sighed softly when Tori spoke, she was kind of hoping that they could get through one dinner without them fighting. She just listened to it though, because it honestly didn't last long before Jared got up and left, sounding angrier then he usually was by Tori's comments. She knew it was because soccer was very important to him though, he's even mused about doing it in college and maybe going pro. He didn't do it in front of Tori but he's talked about it with her and Thomas.

Sandra looked over at Tori and shook her head slightly, "Was that really called for" she asked just as Jared walked back into the dinning room and declared he was going out with Karen. She was about to say that he needed to be back by ten but didn't get the chance before he was gone again.

Jared walked back down the stairs and towards the door, "See ya" he called and then walked out and down the street.
