Colby (colbz) | 3211 comments I’ve always wanted to be a runner
but my feet will never pick me up
and take me down the streets of my city
pound against the pavement to the beat of my heart
and so I pound away at the keyboard instead
writing words that don’t mean anything at all
most of the time
in hopes of feeling something
anything at all

I’ve lived a million different lives
changed my mind a million times
I reached the exact same conclusion:
the world is fighting against me
and I am stumbling through it all
with nothing to show for it, except
the scars on my body, which I have grown
swollen with a sick sense of pride over

I’m starving myself for emotion
my brain is slamming against my skull
each day my lungs are collapsing
and I am killing myself
with a terrible hope,
with desire
for love—
for happiness—
for anything—

I don’t stand a fucking chance.

I’ve lived a million different lives
changed my mind a million times

I just think that it really shows power and emotion in the way you wrote this.

I love this. Everything about it is so perfect and so fitting for my life right now. Like... the emotion is also very raw and just, lovely. Good job!

So much emotion in this. So good. So, yeah, I like.

Also, it kind of rhymes, which is nice in a freeverse poem (No, I don't really like rhyming poems, but these two lines are intentionally repetitive, and I think the semi-rhyming makes it extra nice.)
