Yael Shahar | 44 comments Hello,

Could someone please update the cover of my book:, and

Here is the correct cover:

One of the editions does have the proper cover now, so we're getting there!

Also, I'm trying to edit the details of one of the editions to "Epub" but for some reason, I'm getting a message that I'm only allowed to edit metadata. Which also means that I can no longer choose which edition is the default edition. Is there some way to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Ren | 688 comments There are alternate cover editions for those books already:
GR policy is not to delete or change book covers because readers want to shelve the edition with the cover that they have.

The edition seems to be correct (if it has an ASIN it's a Kindle edition), however I wouldn't know about the default edition thing because it's not something librarians have any control over. Have you done this:
To use this feature, go to the edition you wish to set as the default, and click the "edit" link. On the edition's edit page there will be a link on the right side, about mid-way down the page and just before the link to refresh stats, to "Set this book as the primary edition for this work".

Yael Shahar | 44 comments Thanks Ren,

Yes, I tried following those instructions, and for all but one of the editions, I got a message saying that I wasn't allowed to edit anything but metadata (which doesn't include setting the default.) And unfortunately, the one that I was allowed to edit was the one with the wrong cover!

Let me try again now and see what happens....

Yael Shahar | 44 comments OK, tried again just now.

This one has the correct cover:, but I have no editing rights on it.

These two have the older, incorrect cover:

And both of the latter *do* allow me to edit details. I can only assume that when a librarian added the correct cover to the first one a few days ago, that somehow erased my editing privileges to the book.

Weird! Any ideas how to switch out the covers and get the editing rights back?

Ren | 688 comments I added you as a secondary author to the other books, you should be able to set the one you want as default now.

Only the primary author can set the default edition of a work.

message 7: by Ren (new)

Ren | 688 comments ...or not. The more you know.

message 8: by Yael (new)

Yael Shahar | 44 comments Excellent. Thank you! So now we just have to get the correct covers on them and we're all set. Should I just upload the proper cover as an additional photo?

message 9: by Ren (new)

Ren | 688 comments No, it says right there on the additional photos page that "this feature is not for book covers". They all already have the correct covers. You can't delete the old covers that someone already shelved, that's what the alternate cover editions are for.

Yael, Ovadya will have to choose which edition is primary. Here's how:

message 11: by Yael (new)

Yael Shahar | 44 comments Thanks Rivka!

We'll get that done sometime tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'm still seeing the old covers on two of the books. I refreshed my browser cache, just in case I was getting them from memory. No luck.

Can someone upload them from here:

Goodreads keeps ALL covers. You should see 4 editions here:

2 with the old cover and 2 with the new.

message 13: by Yael (new)

Yael Shahar | 44 comments Ah, I see. So the problem is that the older ones are showing as the default. OK, so long as one of us is allowed to chose the default, that's OK.

I shouldn't have uploaded the cover before the book was actually published; the one that it was published with is much clearer than the pre-publication one.

Thank you so much for your help with all this!
